PUMA Mast Challenge London

Get your sea legs ready for the PUMA Mast Challenge at Potters Fields in January 2009. For four days, the sister ship of the PUMA racing yacht il mostro will be berthed on the banks of the Thames by London Bridge so members of the public can take up the challenge of climbing the 110 foot mast for a unique and exhilarating view of the capital.

If your new year's resolutions are to shape up and get out in the open air more, then the PUMA Mast Challenge at London Bridge might be the best way to start 2009 as you mean to go on. The PUMA mast challenge yacht is the sister ship of il mostro, the contender fighting the weather and waves in a bid to win the 2008/2009 Volvo Ocean Race, so you can get in the spirit of competitive sea racing without taking several months out of your schedule and braving the open sea yourself.

Sea legs at the ready
The crew of the il mostro sister yacht are offering you the chance to try out your seafaring skills while the boat is moored by London Bridge. Members of the public can work with the crew to winch each other to the top of the 110ft mast for a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Not for the faint hearted or confirmed land lubbers, the PUMA mast challenge at Potters Fields runs from Thursday 8th January to Sunday 11th January 2009.

Play the part
Participants can get dressed in the full PUMA Ocean Racing uniform for the mast climbing challenge. The mast climbers will also be fitted with a head cam, so if you feel like supporting the challenge whilst keeping your feet firmly rooted on terra firma, you can clap and cheer along to the live feed footage of the ascents.
