Haven't been here in quite a while but have memories of a great decor, lovely ambience and attentive staff. Good choice of drink though not one of the cheaper pubs around. Angel is rather devoid of good drinking venues so its certainly worth taking a five minute walk out of the limelight to this place.
Clientele - studenty and slightly upmarket.
This is probably the best pub in the area and has a good mix of students and recidents too. The beer is aaround the same price as other locals pubs, but the atmosphere is terrific and the staff are just the right side of friendly. Not tried the food yet, but heard from others that it's fantastic.
I've been to accustic music nights and this attracts a different crowd all together. Loverly...can't recommend it more than that.
Glad there is finally something decent going on around that area . . . at 40 I just haven’t got the energy to bar hop or pub crawl anymore, just somewhere that’s within walking distance . . . perfect surroundings for a chilled night but still has the option for a dance in the function area very appropriate, Just what I need . . . top marks in my book
I had the best party for my sister here a couple of weeks ago. I tried to book at their sister venue The Old Queen's Head (which has been a drinking haunt of mine for a long time...) - but instead they offered me a big space here. I had never been before but it was the perfect venue and actually I think it was better suited for a private party. We could have our own DJ as well which was a bonus. The room we were in didn't have its own bar but the main bar was right next door so it didn't really matter.
Absolutely loving the Queen Boadicea. Cool people, cool decor and good food.
Definitely good for table bookings for large groups - had a wicked night last week! Highly recommended. Oh, and Spider from Coronation Street works on the bar!
Went to Queen Boadicea last night and was very impressed. From the retro mismatched furniture to the low key atmosphere, it's a welcome addition to my favourite pubs in the area. Queen Boadicea is the kind of pub you start out in for a quick drink and before you know it it's the early hours of the morning and you can barely see. Oh yeah, and the step leading up to the men's toilets leads to a few comedy moments. Only criticism, wish they did food.
Queen Boadicea hasn't opened yet but the sister pub The Old Queen's Head is pretty cool. They are having a launch this weekend I think, but I'm not able to go so I would be very grateful if someone does make it to Queen Boadecia to tell me if it's any good or not.
