House of Illustration
The entire collection of Quentin Blake at House of Illustration is sure to be a major pull for fans of his work when the venue opens in the Kings Cross area in 2012. Pulling together a fanastic seletcion of illustration from both British and International artists, this vibrant new venue will be home to a huge range of illustrations, from novels and comics to newspapers and magazines.
Quentin Blake at House of Illustration
One of the most exciting aspects of the venue is the fact that Quentin Blake has pledged his entire collection of illustrative work to the House of Illustration. This amazing body of work includes pieces from over 250 books, as well as 60 years worth of commissions from journals and posters.
Blake's birds
One of the most popular subjects drawn by Quentin Blake at House of Illustration is his collection of birds. Having been fascinated by birds and birdwatching as a child, the illustrator has gone on to depict a huge selection of different feathered creatures for various different mediums. Fans of his work will have seen many of these in childrens books such as the Roald Dhal stories or in poetry anthologies.
Illustration exhibitions
Sure to feature a wealth of artistic and creative events and alongside the collection by Quentin Blake at House of Illustration, there is also plenty of scope for a range of exhibitions. With a varied and surprisingly selection of different illustrators ready to lend their works to the venue, you can be certain that the House of Illustration programme will become one of the most popular locations for fans of the art.
Arty neighbours
As the very first venue dedicated purely to illustration, the House of Illustration will rub shoulders with some very prestigious neighbours in its location in the Kings Cross rengeration area. Just around the corner from St Pancras International, visitors to the area will be able to stop off at the British Library and the Wellcome Trust, and of course students from St Martins College of Art and Design will certainly be interested in the new art based venue.
The collection by Quentin Blake at House of Illustration goes on show at the House of Illustration in late 2012.
