Red Bull Flugtag London

The 2nd Red Bull Flugtag London event gets underway in Hyde Park in June, so you had better get ready to cheer on the city's most creative (or lunatic) inventors once more. With their fabulously exotic flying machines at the ready, the Red Bull Flugtag will see them plunge over the egde of a precipice and into the chilly waters of the Serpentine below, all in the name of sport.

Back in London once more the Red Bull Flugtag has taken flight all around the world since the original Flugtag in Austria in 1992. This year the Red Bull Flugtag London show will see how Britain fares in the battle of the skies as inventors get their crazy flying machines up on the ramp of Hyde Park.

Think you've got what it takes to enter the Red Bull Flugtag competition? Then get your thinking hats on. The closing date for the event is 14th March, which means you need to get your design down on paper, persuade three of your mates to take the plunge with you and get that application form sent off quick smart.

All the entries into the Red Bull Flugtag London event are judged on how far their machine flies over the water, how much their machine impresses the judges and the team that gives the best pre flight performance. So with 80,000 people watching from the sidelines, your flying machine had better be pretty good, or look pretty stylish.

Flying machines not really your thing? Fancy standing on the sidelines and watching all those crazy people who think their planes will make it across the lake? The Red Bull Flugtag London show is open to spectators and if you know someone who is taking part, all the more fun for you and them as you can cheer on their efforts with their machine. Tickets are available for the day at Hyde Park, but as demand is so high, you will need to register with the organisers of the Flugtag to have your name enterted into the ticket ballot.

With 2003 being the date of the last UK Red Bull Flugtag, London had better get itself ready for what will surely be a day of magnificent men (and women) in their flying machines as thousands of competitors and spectators head to the park. Please note that all entrants for the Red Bull Flugtag must be over 16 and have three accompanying team members. Applications for entry into the event close on the 14th March 2008.

Red Bull Flugtag tickets for spectators are free of charge and there are no age restrictions. All tickets will be allocated by a ballot which opened on the 1st April.
