It isn’t officially Christmas until the lights come on and you can be sure to find some of the most spectacular Christmas lights in London at Regent Street. Celebrate the festive season beneath the glow of the Regent Street Christmas lights, switched on at 6pm on Thursday 6th November.

Dazzling Lights in Regent Street
This year’s Regent Street Christmas lights are sure to be another spectacular creation that will light up the sky around Regent Street. The Christmas lights will follow the theme Wish Upon a Star and will no doubt attract thousands of shoppers throughout the festive season, making for one of the major tourist attractions in London this Christmas.

Star appearances at Regent Street
The Regent Street Christmas lights switch on has a history of attracting some of the worlds most celebrated stars, and 2008 is no exception. World famous pop band McFly will flick the switch this year, as Regent Street is transformed into a winter wonderland for lucky Londoners. There will be plenty to keep you entertained before the main event. Hollyoaks star John Pickard, who plays Dominic Reilly in the popular soap, will MC the event and is sure to get the crowd excited. Whilst The London Community Gospel Choir will also perform several songs to get you into the festive spirit.

Children in Need
This year the Regent Street Christmas lights switch on event is supporting BBC Children in Need. The evenings brightest stars McFly are releasing the official single for this years fundraiser, and a number of Regent Street's retailers will be collecting donations. Children in Need helps children throughout the country that have disabilities, live in poverty or suffer from abuse and neglect. In 2007 a record breaking £37 million was raised, and with your help the charity are hoping to raise even more this year.

Christmas shopping on Regent Street
Avoid leaving your Christmas shopping to the last minute and take advantage of the wide range of shops along Regent Street after the Christmas lights are switched on. Make the most of dozens of shops offering all manner of stocking fillers and go window shopping under the glow of some of the most impressive Christmas lights in the world.

The Regent Street Christmas lights switch on will take place at 6pm on Thursday 6th November 2008. The lights remain on show until Tuesday 6th January 2009. Nearest tubes: Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus.
