Remembrance Day at Royal Air Force Museum

A series of special events takes place to mark Remembrance Day at Royal Air Force Museum this year, as the museum marks the 93rd year since the end of the First World War.

Starting with a special commemorative event on Friday 11th November, the events for Remembrance Day at Royal Air Force Museum carry on over the weekend with activities for kids and all the family, giving children of all ages the chance to learn about the significance of Poppy Day and what it means to various different people.

Remembrance Ceremony
Inviting visitors to the museum to remember those that have fallen in the defence of our country, from the First World War up to present day conflicts, the Remembrance Day Cerermony gives the public the chance to show their respect. Starting with the sounding of the Last Post, followed by a two minute silence, there will then be a short dedication to those who have died in battle. The ceremony will then close with a playing of the Reveille.

Lest We Forget
Carrying on the events for Remembrance Day at Royal Air Force Museum, the venue hosts a free activity session for children over the weekend, where they can make their very own poppy to add to the display. Kids can also learn more about Remembrance Day and why it is still an important part of not just British culture, but various different nationalities around the world.

The service for Remembrance Day at Royal Air Force Museum takes place from 10.55am on Friday 11th November 2011. Another two minutes silence will be held at 11am on Sunday 13th November 2011.
