Rex Cinema and Bar

The Rex is a place where you won't find an insane party, but people there to relax and have a good time. It's a members only club, non-members are only allowed in after 10pm. But I think that's when the club really gets going anyway. The prices at the bar are decent, but you may have to wait a while to be served since the bar is so small. Besides that, it was a nice night out.
My best friend and I came to Rex to watch a film as neither of us had visited this particular cinema before. Not only did we find that we were able to watch ‘Burn after Reading’, a film not even released yet, but we could enjoy a post-film drink in the awesome 1930s themed bar.
My boyfriend had his 30th here and we spent quite a bit of money on this. They treated us as if we were spending a tenner. The manager was incredibly rude.
The music was embarassing despite them telling us numerous times leading up to the night that it would be house, it was pure RnB all night. When I told the DJ who was there that we had some friends here, were told the music would be different, she gave me a piece of paper and told me to write down some names of songs!
Don't bother. It's had it's day. Nice idea and perhaps with different management and a more up to date crowd it could be amazing.
But it's certainly not right now.
I loved the Rex!
My friend is a member, and I went along with her to see a film last week and have some cocktails, and it was amazing! The cinema was elegant, but still fun, and the bar played great music and had some of the best cocktails (especially the princess martini). I'm thinking of becoming a member myself!
I went to Rex Bar for my birthday. I invited some of my friends and family. I was told it will be free entry so me and 3 of my friends entered for free before 10:00pm. My partner and 2 friends had to pay £15 each at 10.00pm even when they told the doorman and the lady they were on the guestlist. So the lady said we don't have this birthday list so they didn't want to argue and just paid it.
After half an hour my sister and her partner had to pay £10 each and my friend's partner entered at 11:35pm for free! I was charged £10 and £9 on each drink after 12am even though the price on the menu was £6 only. I contacted Rex the next day because I was very disappointed and I was told the manager was on holiday and he will call me next week. I never heard from them, not even one apology from the lady I spoke to. The place was very small and tables tiny. Only the music was good.
Rex Cinema and Bar is one of my favourite bars in London! Cocktails are fantastic, the bar's decor great, there's always very interesting/pre-release movies and it's in the center of the West End! The only dowside is that the Rex membership is £250 now - not cheap, but to me it's still worth it!
I'm a member of Rex and it is the place to be in London. I've bumped into a few celebs and yes, I was there at Mr Timberlakes do! The £150 annual fee may sound steep but I assure you it is totally worth it!
