Aiming to get kids and young people involved with music, the third annual Rhythm of London festival features public performances, instrument tuition and a variety of school and public events to get the whole city moving to the beat this spring.

Rhythm of London
Organised by the Greater London Authority, the Rhythm of London events bring together a wide range of organisations to help all young Londoners make the most of their musical talent. Schools and music venues across the city are all getting on board to encourage the next generation of musicians to realise their potential.

Music education
Returning in 2011 after another successful festival in 2010, Rhythm of London aims to revitalise music education and tuition with a series of musical and instrument workshops and activities in school and venues across London. Children, teens and young people are invited to take part in the sessions.

Live music
Saturday 23rd April sees one of the highlights of the festival with an explosion of live music for St George's Day in Trafalgar Square. There's live performances to map the past and present landscape of musical London, and some of the city's best young musicians will be taking to the stage to entertain the crowds at the free event.

Buskers
Keep an eye out too for young buskers seranading commuters on the London Underground throughout the festival. Like the majority of the mayor's events, the busking sessions will be free to attend.

Rhythm of London takes place at venues across London from Saturday 16th April - Saturday 23rd April 2011. The Trafalgar Square concert takes place from 12.30pm - 6pm, Saturday 23rd April 2011.
