Titled Heaven and Earth, the Richard Long exhibition London event will be taking place at Tate Britain from Wednesday 3rd June - Sunday 6th September 2009. Documenting walks from around the world, from Japan to locations across the UK, the Heaven and Earth exhibtion includes sculptures, photographs, and much more besides.

The artist's first major show in the capital for 18 years, the Richard Long exhibition London event at Tate Britain explores the relationship between art and landscape. Around 80 works spanning 40 years will be on show at the Tate as part of the Heaven and Earth exhibition.

Inspiration from nature
Taking his inspiration from the nature he has observed during extended, solitary walks, the Richard Long exhibition London event at Tate Britain features work reflecting the landscapes of rural Britain, as well as Canada, Bolivia, Mongolia, and other areas from around the world. Exploring the links between geography, time and movement, the Heaven and Earth show includes images and representations of simple, geometric shapes and landscapes.

Exhibition highlights
Works featured in the Richard Long: Heaven and Earth exhibition include the 1981 work A Line in Scotland, pictured, as well as pieces that reflect the artist's long running fascination with Dartmoor. Other highlights include the striking mud works created directly onto the gallery walls, and six major stone sculptures.

Print giveaway
As a special treat for art lovers, Tate Britain and Art on the Underground have teamed up to give away 60,000 free Richard Long prints on selected stations on the Jubilee Line.
