Attracting around half a million people to six stages along the Thames, the River of Music London festival welcomes music lovers of each and every nationality in a massive celebration of melodies and beats from around the world. Taking place the weekend before the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the festival features the very best musicians from across the globe, as well as some of the most exciting up and coming British talent.

With stages at Trafalgar Square, Somerset House, the Tower of London, Battersea Park, Jubilee Gardens by the Southbank Centre and the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich all hosting music from a different continent, the River of Music London festival really does have something to suit every musical taste. Better yet, the concerts are free to attend - although some of the venues might require you to book free tickets in advance. Musicians already confirmed to be taking part in the festival include British jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Senegalese singer and guitarist Baaba Maal, and American glam pop band Scissor Sisters.
