Rizla End of Year Party

The Rizla End of Year Party is upon us and the Invisible Players are getting their vinyl spinning fingers at the ready to sign off in serious party style. After treating festival-goers all across the land to some of the finest music they’ll ever hear, the Invisible Players cordially invite you to the last Rizla party of 2008 - so get your dancing feet at the ready and prepare to stomp into the early hours to some very fine music indeed.

The party will feature a very select selection of turntable talent, as the likes of Derrick Carter, Greg Wilson and Heartbreak get on the decks to whip an East Village crowd (full of only the most discerning connoisseurs of musical mayhem) into a frenzy. Joining these three infectious turntable technicians will be East Village resident Stuart Patterson, the terribly good twosome Autodisco DJs, and the girls and boys from Heavenly Jukebox and 1965 Records who’ll be going head to head upstairs.

As you can see there’s some serious pedigree on the line up, especially when bona-fide house legend Derrick Carter is due to step up. All the way from Chicago where he was one of the instigators of its unique house sound, Carter will be finishing off the Rizla End of Year Party, getting deep down and dirty with some delicious little numbers. And maybe the odd big one too.

Daddy of electro-funk, Mr Greg Wilson, will also be in attendance, bringing a box full of tunes that are sure to bring a smile to everybody’s faces and a toe-tap to everybody’s tootsies. With a career spanning two decades, including a residency at the mighty Hacienda, you can expect to hear rare edits and samples from an absolute dance legend, all on a 20 year old reel-to-reel deck. And you lucky little devils really can’t ask for much more than that.

But you’ll get it anyway, thanks to some of the finest electro and Italo Disco from Heartbreak, who’ll be blessing your ears with a very rare DJ set. Joining them will be Dundee DJing duo Autodisco, who’ll be bringing yet more hand-clapping and thigh slapping high jinx to proceedings, merging electro and disco into one juicy little genre of loveliness. So if you fancy a party, make sure it’s the Rizla End of Year party. Wizard.

The Rizla End of Year Party takes place at East Village on Friday 14th November 2008 from 9pm – 4am.
