Live out your rock star fantasies with Rock Karaoke at Cuckoo Club. Rather than singing cheesy songs about surviving heartbreak to a tinny backing track pumping out of a meagre sound system, this event lets you experience the raw adrenaline of singing alongside a live band. If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to be on stage performing live to a glamorous crowd then Cuckoo Club’s regular Wednesday night event is worth checking out. Best of all? It’s open to non-members (at the discretion of the door staff so make sure you make an effort) and it’s the only way you’ll be able to get into this strictly members’ only club short of stumping up a hefty annual fee but don’t worry if you are a member you’ll still get priority.

Rockaoke Versus Bandeoke
Rock Karaoke at Cuckoo Club is a weekly event that sees both members and non-members singing along to a live band. Depending on the week you go, Rockaoke or Bandeoke will be your host for the evening – both are well established karaoke backing bands out to wage war against bland karaoke machines and limp singalongs. Rockaoke are a band from Sheffield who have had an illustrious history hosting live karaoke events at Manumission in Ibiza, the Hard Rock Calling Festival, Punk and Bloomsbury Ballroom. Alternatively there’s Bandeoke – with their band One Night Stand – a rock ‘n’ roll three-piece that have played at venues like the Punchbowl and Boardwalk. All abilities are welcome so you may want to take some earplugs for when the inevitable screeching starts, interspersed with X-Factor style flashes of brilliance.

Anything Goes
If you’re worried that Rock Karaoke at Cuckoo Club is a little too full on and you prefer the cheesier side of karaoke then you may be surprised at the song list on offer. The musical genres covered include pop, indie, rock and punk classics and you’re as likely to hear someone crooning along to the sounds of Frank Sinatra as you are screeching out the tunes of the Sex Pistols. They even have Gary Barlow, R Kelly and George Michael on the song list – now that’s a party!

The Cuckoo Club
The Cuckoo Club sits in the heart of London’s West End and is strictly members’ only. If you meander past on a Friday night you’ll spy the queue snaking its way from the front door down the narrow alleyway of Swallow Street as girls dressed in Gucci and guys in Armani wait to be allowed in. It’s glamorous, it’s sexy, it’s exclusive - the perfect venue for a raucous karaoke night open to all, right? Maybe not, but that’s why Rock Karaoke at Cuckoo Club works. It’s different.

Rock Karaoke at Cuckoo Club takes place from 11pm-3am every Wednesday. Entry is £20.
