An exhibition by Ron Arad at Barbican Art Gallery celebrates the venue's reopening for 2010 with a selection of work by the internationally acclaimed designer.

Restless is the title of the Ron Arad exhibition and seems to describe his attitude towards his work, in that he seems to be constantly seeking new ways to approach his design ethic. With three decades worth of design features to inspect, this is one exhibition not to be missed by art and design fans.

Designer biography
Following his career from the early days of his flatpack style self assembly products to the glamorous sculptural pieces that he produces now, the exhibition by Ron Arad at Barbican is a dramatic show, crammed full of signature work. Born in Tel Aviv in Israel, the designer moved to London in the seventies, and has been here ever since creating creative and unusual designs. Including architectural designs, as well as mass produced pieces, visitors to the exhibition are able to enjoy the spectacle of the latest LED technology being put to use in some pieces designed by Ron Arad Associates.

Renowned for his innovative designs and continual experimentation, the show by Ron Arad at Barbican Art Gallery is the perfect start for those wanting to learn more about this innovative designer. Showcasing his inspiration, production and the materials themselves, the exhibition offers a great insight into the ways in which Ron Arad works. Taking you from conception to finished article, this is a great way to explore his designs.

A UK first
As this is the very first time that an exhibition by Ron Arad has shown anywhere in the UK, the Barbican is going all out to celebrate. In the spirit of the designer, the Barbican is hosting curious and exciting events throughout the period that the exhibition is on. Talks, workshops, late night gallery events and more are scheduled for the period during the exhibition by Ron Arad at Barbican, so keep your eye's peeled for more information soon!

Restless, the exhibition by Ron Arad at Barbican Art Gallery takes place from Thursday 18th February - Sunday 16th May 2010. The opening hours are 11am - 8pm daily, excluding Tuesday and Wednesday, when the gallery shuts at 6pm, and late night Thursdays until 10pm.
