17th May – 10th June 2008
The summer season begins with two one act ballets featuring choreography from Jerome Robbins and Frederick Ashton, setting immaculate dance to music from Chopin and Mendelssohn. Dances at a Gathering returns to the Royal Opera House after a thirty year absence, whilst Ashton brings his unique take on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the Royal Opera House.

Romeo and Juliet
26th May – 13th June 2008
Kenneth MacMillan brings his acclaimed interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy to the Royal Opera House. With a monumental score from Sergei Prokofiev, MacMillan’s ballet is a genuine favourite of arts fans the world over.

Ariadne Auf Naxos
16th June – 1st July 2008
The classic opera brings together the high brow and low brow to superb effect as the serious and not so serious sides of art are hurled together in stunning fashion. Produced by Christof Loy, Ariadne Auf Naxos combines a fascinating score from Strauss with some of the finest opera stars in the world.

Le Nozze Di Figaro
24th June – 12th July 2008
Marking the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, David McVicar brings this ever popular four part opera to the Royal Opera House. A genuine Mozart masterpiece, this tale of revolution and social upheaval benefits from classic songs such as Non so Piu Cosa Son, Dove Sono and Porgi, Amor, as the Royal Opera bring this stunning piece to life.

Robert Lepage brings Stravinsky’s classic opera to the Royal Opera House, throwing in some Hollywood glamour for good measure. Lepage’s new production highlights the moral questions that arise when fame and success are shown to be a dangerously double edged sword, ensuring that the world of Hollywood is examined as never before.

John Copley’s stunning take on Puccini’s tragic love story is revived in what’s set to be an incredibly popular opera production at the Royal Opera House.
