Join in all the fun and revelry of the royal wedding at Water Poet when the popular Spitalfields pub joins forces with the East End Film Festival to resurrect the Liberty of Norton Folgate. The pub is also screening the royal wedding live so that everyone can feel a part of the big day.

A right royal knees up
With music hall songs, a gin palace and film screenings of East End street parties of old, there's bound to be plenty of good old fashioned east London larks for the royal wedding at Water Poet. To celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the pub is channelling the spirit of the now obsolete local district of The Liberty of Norton Folgate, a popular haunt for Regency and Victorian outlaws, dandies and theatrical types.

East End Film Festival
The special events for the royal wedding at Water Poet tie into the 2011 East End Film Festival, so expect plenty of film related fun and quirky east London culture at the party. A number of heritage films are being screened at the event to celebrate local East End street parties of yesteryear, and there's also a premiere screening of Truman's - Risen From The Archives for history buffs. The screenings take place after the coverage of the royal wedding ends.

What to expect
Alongside the film screenings, other events and attractions taking place for the royal wedding at Water Poet include a gin palace where you can immerse yourself in the spirit of Hogarth's London and try an unusual cocktail or two. For beer lovers, there's also the chance to sip the limited edition Truman's Consummation Ale while enjoying pies, puddings and preserves from the market stalls set up in the garden barn.

Live music
Meanwhile, revellers can listen to music hall songs from Nichola Jolley and accordion tunes from Garance Louis while gazing at the irreverent pictures in the Royal Portrait Gallery of The Good, the Bad and the Plummy. More entertainment comes from Jack the Clipper's Barbers, who will be offering cuts, shaves, trims and more on stage. There's also live acts from a magician and conjurer during the party, and there's also the chance to take a walk with the Pearly King and Queen of Bow Bells along the cobbled Blossom Street.

The royal wedding at Water Poet party runs from 11am - 11pm, Friday 29th April 2011. Admission is free.
