Royal occasion
With the ceremony itself taking place on Friday 29th April, there's a whole host of events taking place across the spring of 2011 to celebrate the royal wedding. London will no doubt be awash with Union Flags, bunting and crowds of wellwishers at what is already being hailed as the wedding of the decade.
Westminster Abbey
There were certainly plenty of potential royal wedding London venues for Prince William and Kate Middleton to choose from, and the couple have now decided that the beautiful Westminster Abbey will host the wedding. Originally founded in the 10th century, the Gothic church has seen the coronations of 38 sovereigns and also hosted the weddings of both the Queen Mother and the Queen. The marriage service begins at 11am, with live music from the fanfare team of the Central Band of the RAF, the London Chamber Orchestra, the Chapel Royal Choir, the Choir of Westminster Abbey and the State Trumpeters of The Household Cavalry.
Carriage procession
After the televised ceremony in Westminster Abbey, the newlyweds will take part in a carriage procession through the streets of London before returning to Buckingham Palace. The couple will travel in the 1902 State Landau as part of the five horse drawn carriages procession, although in the event of bad weather the Glass Coach will be used.

The wedding marks the start of a four day weekend, ending with the May Day bank holiday on 2nd May. Alongside all the special menus, themed cocktails and souvenirs available in the run up to the wedding, the long bank holiday weekend also sees a special event taking place at the Southbank Centre with alt rock musician Billy Bragg, as well as a royal wedding themed party from fancy dress experts Club de Fromage.
