Marking 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, Padel's great great grandfather, the dramatic poetry gives a creative insight into the influential scientist's personal life and groundbreaking scientific theories.

Reading from Darwin: A Life in Poems, the Ruth Padel Southbank Centre event marks the bicentenary of Charles Darwin's birth, and explores the emotional ramifications of his discovery of the theory of evolution. Following the poetry reading, Ruth Padel will talk to Esther Freud, the great granddaughter of Sigmund Freud.
