Saatchi Gallery Competition

Saatchi Gallery Competition

Have a say in who’s set to be the next art world darling at Showdown, an online Saatchi Gallery competition meant to showcase the best in up and coming and undiscovered artists. Similar to vote-in reality shows, audience members are encouraged to vote for their favourite. At the end of the competition, two artists will go head to head for some major prize money and the chance to show their work in on of the world’s most famous art galleries.

The competition
In an effort to get unknown artists more exposure, the Saatchi Gallery is running a competition to see who can win a spot in their famous space. This will gain more exposure for the artists as well as the gallery, and just may yield the next big thing in the world of British art. By giving art fans a chance to vote for their favourite pieces, you’ll be able to have a say in what gets included in one of the top galleries in London.

The rules
Aspiring artists can upload their work to the gallery’s website, and for one week the audience gets a chance to rank the work from 1 to 10. The two artists with the highest scores at the end of that week will continue on for another week, producing one winner. This will happen for 12 rounds, and the finalists from those 12 rounds will compete against each other to be chosen an overall winner of the Saatchi Gallery competition.

Vote for your favourite
Artists must register to upload their art, but anyone can vote. Artwork is displayed randomly on the screen, and you can only vote once for each piece of work. If you’d like to make a difference in the world of art, make your way to Showdown, the online Saatchi Gallery competition and vote for your favourite.

The prize
The artist that comes out the winner of the competition will receive £1,000, and their artwork will go on display at the new location of the Saatchi Gallery, set to open later in the year in Chelsea. Even the runner up gets £750.00, so if you’re an aspiring artist, give it a try.

Showdown, the Saatchi Gallery competition, is currently taking place on the gallery’s website. To enter your artwork, to vote or for more information click here.
