An unusual Sexual Nature exhibition London event takes place at the Natural History Museum in 2011 as the scientists invite you to take a closer look at the ways in which the animal kingdom reproduces. Revealing some of its most bizarre and intimate secrets, this is one exhibition not for the faint hearted.

Sexual Nature exhibition
London has hosted many exhibitions about sex over the years, but none quite so frank as Sexual Nature at Natural History Museum. Whipping off the fig leaf from a huge variety of animals, visitors to the exhibition will be confronted by various different facts, figures and interactive displays that demonstrate the more provocative side of nature.

The science bit
For those that think the Sexual Nature exhibition is essentially Benny Hill for animals, think again. The Natural History Museum show invites visitors to experience the need for diversity when it comes to choosing and seducing a mate, and the various methods of reproduction to maximise their species longevity. But you can also have a laugh at the various creatures that boast excessively large testicles (indicating a highly promiscuous species) and gasp at those blessed with a penis size that equates to 40 percent of its own body length (the lucky old Fruit Fly).

It takes two
Over 100 different specimens from the Natural History Museum's collection are on show in the multi sensory Sexual Nature exhibition, making this one of the most comprehensive examinations of the sex life of the birds and the bees. And it's not just the animals that come up for scrutiny, the reproductive habits of humans are also included in the exhibition, meaning that visitors are asked to leave all of their preconceptions at the door as they discover the science of sex for all species.

The Sexual Nature exhibition London event takes place from 10am - 5.50pm at Natural History Museum from Friday 11th February 2011. Please note that the exhibition is aimed at those aged 16 year and over.
