With bold and colourful prints of various London landmarks Shaping the City is a stunning exhibition on show at the gallery at Oxo Tower in May 2008. Created by renowned print makign and illustrator Paul Catherall, Shaping the City captures the city landscape with buildings both old and new, and draws fresh perspective on the look of London as a whole.

Buildings that are full of character, whether they are the sleek modern lins of the Lloyd building or the Elephant and Castle shopping centre which has divided public opinion for so long, are the true stars of this exhibition. So if you have a favourite public building in London, you could find that it has been sought out for recognition by Paul and immortalised in one of his vibrant prints.

Simplfying the lines and using block colours, the prints on show in Shaping the City are boldly contemporary, reflecting the artists history as an illustrator for book covers and poster art. One of Paul Catherall's most recent commissions is the New View of London triptych, which has been used for the rebranding of the iconic London Underground art.

As the prints are up for sale once the exhibition is over, art loving Londoners will be thrilled at the chance of taking home some of the prints for their very own. Shaping the City includes original art from the London Underground commissions, and book covers for authors such as Armistead Maupin, both of which would make fabulous collectors items.

But it's not just London that Paul has captured with his lino prints. New limited edition prints of the capital sit alongside works that portray many other cities too, including New York. With his influences ranging from 19th century artists such as Cezanne and Sickert, to more modern artists like Tom Purvis and Edward Wadsworth, you can see prints of modern cities rendered stylish, sleek and clean with his talented illustrators eye.

On show until the 18th May, you can see Shaping the City at the gallery at Oxo Tower Wharf on the Southbank.
