Captivating tale
The Shawshank Redemption is based on the Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, and sees protagonist Andy Dufresne wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his wife. Whilst in prison he befriends Ellis Boyd ‘Red’ Redding who offers him friendship, support and hope as both characters attempt to deal with long prison sentences in a hostile environment. The Shawshank Redemption film starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, roles which will be played on stage by Kevin Anderson and Reg E Cathey.

New West End production
This new stage version of The Shawshank Redemption is set to run at the Wyndhams Theatre, after considerable success at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. The play will boast two hugely successful actors, with Kevin Anderson (Death of a Salesman, Come Back, Little Sheba, Sunset Boulevard, Sleeping With The Enemy and Charlotte’s Web) joined by Reg E Cathey (The Wire, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew and The Green Bird) on stage.
