Joining the other celebs in wax, kids can now get up close and personal with Shrek at Madame Tussauds.

The seven foot tall green ogre has been painstakingly created by the craftsmen at the famous waxworks museum to celebrate the release of the Shrek the Third on DVD. Standing in his native swampland the character has been made with a special huggable skin so that fans can get up close and personal for a quick cuddle.

Renowned in the films for his humour and habbit of burping, the lifesize Shrek at Madame Tussauds behaves in just the same way. With a selection of rib tickling remarks at the ready and plenty of king sized burps and farts just waiting to surprise visitors, the model is uncannily like his filmstar character.

Any visitors to the world famous London attraction will be amazed at the level of work that goes into not just Shrek, but all the other waxworks on display. Having made the models for over 150 years, Madame Tussauds takes a lot of time and dedication in creating the waxworks that bear astonishing likenesses to their famous counter parts. Standing at seven foot tall Shrek looms large over his tiny counterpart, the Gingerbread Man, Gingy who also starred in the Shrek films. The smallest figure at Madame Tussauds, Gingy joins Shrek in his swamp along with the interactive swamp toilet that releases a pine fragrance when flushed.

Taking four months, 20 sculptors, over 500 body measurements and real hair, the models are built up with countless layers of tints and paints to achieve exactly the right skin tone. Matching the right shade of green to the ogre's skin and gluing on all his hair being a job in itself for a model like Shrek.

Full of celebs like Kylie Minogue, Johnny Depp and Kate Moss, who are just some of the more recent additions, you can now see Shrek at Madame Tussauds along side all the other film stars.
