Silent cinema
Showcasing some of the earliest works of the cinema age alongside a live musical soundtrack, the season of silent films at Barbican covers everything from iconic classics to newly rediscovered gems. Movie buffs can settle into an afternoon of screenings at the acclaimed cinema, as part of an ongoing season of silent films.

Live music
Adding a new dimension to the screening of silent films at Barbican are the live musical scores that accentuate all the drama on screen. The pianist at each screening will play everything from improvised accompaniments to brand new scores during the film, making for a unique experience for the audience.

Upcoming films
Upcoming screenings in the silent films at Barbican series include Beggars of Life, starring the iconic Louise Brooks as a cross-dressing criminal and set to a live musical accompaniment by Neil Brand and The Dodge Brothers. There's also a series of films from the Bauhaus archive, to accompany the Barbican's big Bauhaus exhibition.
