Back again for another season of ice skating under the instantly recognisable facade, Skate at Somerset House offers two months of fantastic outdoor entertainment. With skating sessions all day, every day and into the night, this is certainly one of the best ice rinks in London.
Skate at Somerset House 2011 and 2012
Located under the beautiful Tiffany Christmas tree and in front on the much loved building, Skate at Somerset House is the ice skating event of the winter. Perfectly located for a day of skating, shopping and other fun festive events, Somerset House pulls out all the stops for a fantastic Christmas once again.
Late skate sessions
If you fancy taking a date to ice skate at Somerset House, there is nothing more romantic than being able to hit the ice after dark. The skating sessions can be booked up until well after dark, making this one of the best ice rinks for late night skating. You can also skate around to some cool music with the Somerset House club DJ nights, when a series of DJs including The Nextmen and The Loose Cannons take to the decks to spin the tunes on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Teatime with Tiffany
For an enchanting way to spend the festive season, Skate at Somerset House is bringing back the Teatime with Tiffany family events once again. These exclusive events include a free hot chocolate, free teatime Tiffany snack and a glass of champagne for the grown ups, too. The Teatime with Tiffany events also include advice and tutorials from ice dance experts.
Skate school
Need to learn how not to fall over before you can skate? Head to the Skate School at Somerset House for lessons on finding your feet on the ice. The world famous ice dancer Jayne Torvill is the patron of the Skate School and with a whole load of expert instructors, you can learn the basics or take your skills even further with well designed courses. The Penguin Club caters for kids too, so there is no excuse not to get the whole family on the ice.

Tiffany shop
If you've worked up an appetite on the Skate at Somerset House ice rink, then reward yourself with a treat or two from the Tiffany Shop. Pick up some sweets or nibble on a candy cane, or browse the shop for gift ideas ranging from jewellery and festive ornaments to cashmere products. The Designers and Makers area is also selling a range of beautifully designed gifts ranging from £20.00 - £200.00.
Storytelling under the tree
Kids of all ages are also invited to join some of the UK's most popular children's authors for a free storytelling session under the Somerset House Christmas tree. Highlights include Chris Wormell reading Molly and the Night Monster, Sam Gayton's modern fairytale The Snow Merchant, and Joanna Nadin recounting tales of the accident prone Penny Dreadful.
Skate at Somerset House takes place from Tuesday 22nd November 2011 - Sunday 22nd January 2012. Tickets for skating sessions cost £10.50 - £15.00 for adults and £7.50 - £8.50 for children. Tickets for the club nights cost £17.00.
