The 2011 Skate School at Somerset House is all set to reopen for business and given the chilly weather outside, there is no better time to learn how to skate than now.

Every year thousands of Londoners take to the ice over the winter on rink in front of the iconic Somerset House facade. But can you actually skate, or do you simply hang onto the edge and hope that no-one pushes you over by mistake? If you are more Bambi on ice than Dancing on Ice, then head to the Skate School at Somerset House for lessons on becoming the next Torvill or Dean.

Winter fun
Whether you have never even set foot on the ice or are fairly good at the basics, there are lessons for all abilities at the Skate School at Somerset House. Under the guidance of the honorary Patron Jayne Torvill, the ice skating courses and lessons are run by qualified teachers, who are all accredited to the National Ice Skating Association. So you know even if you end up going bottoms up on the ice, you'll be in safe hands when you get up again.

Something for everyone
Teaching hundreds of people every year how to skate, the Skate School has a reputation of covering all bases. There is truly something for everyone with one off lessons and three week courses. So get in the mood for the winter sports season and enjoy some ice outdoor fun at Somerset House.

Skating for penguins
Kids aren't left out of the mix either as the Skate School at Somerset House also caters for the under 8's with the Penguin Club. One of the most popular skating classes to take place, the club gives little children the chance to learn to ice skate in a safe and stable environment, with the opportunity to learn basic ice skills on their own if they wish.

Penguin Club dates
Tickets for the Penguin Club cost £7.50, with the half hour lessons starting at 8.30am and 9.10am on the following dates:

Skating courses and lessons
The courses and lessons for adults and children over the age of 8 take place from 8.45am - 9.45am and can also be booked as individual classes. Skate School at Somerset House courses start on Saturday 26th November 2011, and run for three weeks. A three week course costs £50.00 for adults and a one off individual lesson is £20.00.
