With a weekend of exotic film screenings and live performances, you can take a peak into the seductive and sultry world of cabaret from a century ago.

Smoking Cabinet 2008
From the belle epoque to the racy twenties, the Smoking Cabinet film festival features rarely screened shorts, a classic cabaret feature, inspiring talks and the chance to revel in the delectable secrets of early cinema. Revel in the secrets of cabaret inspired early cinema and prepare yourself for the work of dance, showgirls, music hall stars, circus performers, early erotica and performing animals.

Opening night
Kicking off the proceedings on Friday 12th December is the Smoking Cabinet v Midnight Movies, as the festival has paired up with Midnight Movies to bring you live performance, music and a special screening of E. A. Dupont's Piccadilly featuring Anna May Wong.

Showgirls and circus stars
Saturday 13th December sees an evening of dance and showgirl themed fun, as Divine and Charles, Fatima and Carmencity, The Whirl of the Charleston and plenty of voluptuous chorus girls hit the silver screen. For the final day of the Smoking Cabinet film festival, the spirit of the Coney Island circus heads to the Curzon as you are whisked back to the 1900s for the unusual, the exotic and the bizarre.

Live performances
You can catch live shows from the Shellac Sisters, The Bees Knees and Fancy Chance during the film festival, to show you just how far burlesque has come since the twenties. With panel discussions, fantastic film screenings, music, dancing, cakes and plenty of entertainment, the Smoking Cabinet film festival is back with more oomph than ever before.
