Celebrating National Escargot Day in style, the snail hunt London event organised by Cafe Rouge aims to get Londoners falling in love with the quintessentially French speciality during the bank holiday weekend.

With Eurostar tickets to Paris up for grabs and around 20 other prizes on offer for those spotting the lucky molluscs, the snail hunt London event is guaranteed to attract Francophile food lovers in the capital. Bonne Maman goodies, President Cheese products, and bottles of French wine and Champagne are also available to be won on the snail themed treasure hunt.

Spot your snail
The snail hunts will be starting at 11am and will take place around the Cafe Rouge branches in Covent Garden, Blackheath, Wimbledon and Southgate. Staff at each branch will be hiding 20 oversized snail cut outs around their local areas, which when found can be redeemed for the special prizes.

Limited edition menu
Alongside the snail hunt London events, Cafe Rouge will also be putting on a limited edition menu featuring a variety of mollusc dishes. The Escargot Menu is available from Monday 18th May - Sunday 31st May, and Cafe Rouge have imported over 34,000 snails from France to make sure there's plenty to go around in London.

Food highlights
Menu highlights include the Terrine d'Escargot aux Lardons, a snail and bacon terrine served with rustic brown bread, and Cassolette d'Escargots Jurassienne, a casserole of snails, white wine, cream and Paris mushroom. Dishes start from £4.95.

The snail hunt London events start at 11am, Saturday 23rd May, and are based around the Cafe Rouge branches in Covent Garden, Blackheath, Wimbledon and Southgate. The Escargot menu at Cafe Rouge is available from Monday 18th May - Sunday 31st May 2009.
