Soiree de Sabrage at Le Vacherin

Celebrating the third anniversary of the restaurant, the Soiree de Sabrage at Le Vacherin is a black tie dinner witha sumptuous five course feast accompanied by perfectly matched wine and champagne. Using the traditional method of French sabrage, the opening of a bottle of champagne with a sabre, the Confriere de Sabre at Le Vacherin will demonstrate this stunning art and invites guests to have a go themselves.

Sabrage is a skilled art that relies on the sword or sabre hitting the lip of the champagne bottle cleanly and removing not only the cork but the top of the bottle itself. Originating from the cavalry officers of the Napoleonic Army, Sabrage was, for the soldiers, the normal way of opening a bottle of champagne as they found it easier than the conventional method.

By using a firm wrist and following the line of the mould on the bottle itself, the sabre will sever the top of the bottle and very little of the champagne will be spilt. With delicious French food and the chance to try this exciting French practise, the Soiree de Sabrage at Le Vacherin will be a thrilling evening.
