Solar Story exhibition
London has home to the Planetarium and the Greenwich Observatory for many years, both of which are integral to helping scientists understand more about the Sun, our solar system and the Earth. In this fascinating exhibition, astronomy fans can gain amazing insight into the way in which we attempt to understand the Sun, and explore the nature of this very important star.
The life cycle of a star
Taking visitors through the early days of solar observation through to the latest discoveries made by NASA and their most advanced spacecrafts, the Solar Story exhibition is a must for anyone fascinated by the sky at night and the nature of space travel. Including work carried out by the special team at the Royal Observatory itself, you will be able to see the answers to questions about the size, structure and energy of the Sun, as well as find out about its life cycle, which is integral to supportin life on Earth.
Secrets of the Sun
While the Solar Story exhibition looks at the history of taking images of the Sun and recording important datat, the new Planetairum show Secrets of the Sun gives you further insight into the flaming ball of gasses that lights our sky. Exploring the dynamic nature of the star and showing amazing detail such as Sunspots and orbiting satellites, the film also explains how the Northern Lights are created and why the Earth's energy problems would be solved if we could recreate the power of the Sun.
