Sample the Ghost in the Machine sonic trail at the Tate Britain for an unusual and innovative gallery tour. Tying in with the Altermodern Tate Triennial 2009 exhibition, the sonic trail combines music and narrative to create an atmospheric soundtrack to the art on display.

With contributions from MOBO award winning jazz MC Soweto Kinch, the sonic trail at the Tate Britain is a fresh take on the idea of a gallery audio guide. Mixing hip hop and jazz with layers of vocal and narrative samples, the Ghost in the Machine sonic trail takes a fresh look at six of the visual works of art in the Tate collection and the new Altermodern exhibition.

New technologies
Using the latest i-touch personal audio guides and a sound installation within the gallery, the exclusive sonic trail at the Tate Britain is free for visitors to experience. Engaging with the themes of globalisation and identity that are explored in the Altermodern show, the sonic trail is another example of the interesting things that can happen when music, art and science collide.

The sonic trail at the Tate Britain is available from 10am - 5.50pm daily, and until 10pm on Fridays, from Thursday 26th February - Sunday 26th April 2009. The audio guide is free. For more information on the Altermodern exhibition, click on the links below.
