Southwark Cathedral Christmas carols return once again with a host of festive concerts that are sure to keep Londoners entertained throughout December. Get in the Christmas spirit with singing, readings, music and more all from the stunning setting of Southwark Cathedral.

This time of year is one of remembrance and celebration and there’s no better way to do it than by joining in with all the fun that the Southwark Cathedral Christmas carols deliver every year. A genuine annual highlight, these carol concerts draw a large number of singers, visitors and luminaries and are always some of the best to take place in London.

Carols for all
The carols take place throughout December so there should be plenty of scope for those who are busy, or of course for those who want to go more than once. There are a series of candlelit concerts and a one off lunch time sing in for commuters.

Christmas Day 2011
For those looking to celebrate Christmas on the big day, the 25th December sees a Christmas Day concert that celebrates the Eucharist, which is open to the public and free of charge. So if you fancy celebrating Christmas with some of London’s best carol concerts the Southwark Cathedral Christmas carols are a very good bet indeed.

1pm, Saturday 3rd December
The lunchtime Christmas Concert begins the carol season at the cathedral.

7.30pm, Saturday 3rd December
Britten - Ceremony of Carols, featuring the Merbecke Choir. Tickets cost £5.00 - £7.00 on the door.

7.30pm, Monday 5th December
The NSPCC Carol Concert features carols, choir performances and traditional readings from celebrities. Tickets cost £25.00 - £70.00, and can by booked by calling 020 7825 2978.

12pm, Saturday 10th December
Finnish Church in London Christmas Recital. For more information on tickets, call 020 7237 1261.

7.15pm, Wednesday 14th December
Carols in the City, on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care. For tickets, call 020 7599 7266.

7.30pm, Wednesday 21st December
The Spirit of Christmas by candlelight, featuring the Southwark Cathedral Choir Concert. Tickets cost £12.00. For further information, call 020 7367 6700.

4pm, Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve see Southwark Cathedral celebrate the Building of the Crib with a special commemorative service. Specially for children and their guardians, the event follows the Nativity Story with readings and carols.

11.30pm, Christmas Eve
The Midnight Eucharist on Christmas Eve sees the congregation welcome in Christmas Day with a traditional mass.

11am, Christmas Day
Christmas Day sees the Choral Eucharist being celebrated at 11am. Join members of the church to enjoy the big day itself.
