Spitalfields Market is the main location for the Spitalfields Opens Up festival which takes place at the end of September as part of the Open Rehearsal and Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend. Free events are taking place over the three days, with loads of different music and arts for all.

Spitalfields Opens Up is getting behind the Open Rehearsal weekend with loads of different performances and behind the scenes events. Whether you want to see technical rehearsals at Toynbee Studios, take a listen to the London Philharmonic Choir as they warm up, or enjoy an art hunt at the Whitechapel gallery, there is something to excite and inspire all arts lovers.

Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend
Not just an excuse for a multitude of arts events in one weekend, the Spitalfields Opens Up weekend is part of the city wide celebrations of the four year Cultural Olympiad. Marking the time until the 2012 Olympics come to London, the Cultural Olympiad is giving people all over the country and in the capital the chance to get involved with a whole host of exciting arts events.

Although Spitalfields Market is the central location for Spitalfields Opens Up, there will be plenty of other places getting the Open Rehearsal special treatment too. The Kinetica Museum is featuring an special installation and some workshops, and Bishops Square will be home to a performance of Through the Arch of Imagination, where a 4 metre high Pearly Queen will celebrate the start of the Cultural Olympiad.

Singing bus stop
If all this inspires you to get musical, then the Singing Bus Stops are just the thing. Singers Laka D and Suzi Zumpe will be encouraging members of the public to let rip with their own musical talent at these special bus stops, which will culminate in a special performance in Bishops Square on Sunday 28th September.
