Commemorating the Battle of Britain and celebrating the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Spitfire and Hurricane fly-past London event sees the iconic single seat fighter planes take to the skies above the capital once more.

Iconic planes
Taking place to commemorate the Battle of Britain, which took place over three months during the summer and autumn of 1940 in the skies above the UK, the Spitfire and Hurricane fly-past London event sees the instantly recognisable military aircraft fly past over Buckingham Palace. Sure to be a memorable sight for onlookers, the airborne commemorative service is free to watch from the ground.

Royal wedding celebrations
The Spitfire and Hurricane fly-past London event is also part of the celebrations for the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, and takes place just as the newlyweds step onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the Queen. The fly-past is being conducted by members of the RAF on a day of city wide celebrations which include the wedding at Westminster Abbey and the couple's journey as part of a carriage procession to Buckingham Palace.
