Have always walked past this place but never really thought to go in as I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Finally gave it a go last week as was off to see Priscilla and am glad I did now. The staff there were all great and the drinks really good value...we got a nice bottle of red for £15! It seems like a bit of a well kept secret but will definitely be recommending to my friends.

Went to Stanza on Saturday for a friend’s birthday and had an amazing night. Don’t normally go out in Central, but this club was great! The music was good, it got busy from early on and the cocktails were to die for. The only downside was that there wasn’t much seating outside the VIP so would probably try and book an area next time, but all in all 10 out of 10 Stanza.

I went along a week ago with a couple of friends and had dinner in the restaurant- wow!- the food is amazing. We didn't even know the place turned into a nightclub after the restaurant, but we stayed and had a great time. the service was faultless, and the cocktail are fantastic- even better when they are on the happy hour deal right up until the club starts! will definitely go again!

Well, I was planning to use Stanza Restaurant and Late Night Bar for my birthday party, because I was quite enjoy when I first time went there in the quite area to chat. It was late booking, but the person who get contact with me seems doesn't sense customer's urgent and not really helpful. They offer the area but in the end withdrawn and leave me must chose bar area for a big 50 guests party and still trying to charge for entrance fee for all my guests. I was absolutely feel irritated for the place like this. This is not a what we call posh club nor a posh restaurant, rather just cosy and pre-theatre food. Even not kind of good range canapes that you can choose for a good party. The area they offered was much smaller then other bars I have contacted and with no additional offer to large group guests, but they are expecting me to have more minimum spend as others which is ridiculous! However, the whole experience I have came cross with this team of party arrangement were absolutely disgusting. The person who is marketing manager, I think she should not work in marketing or pr at all! I never deal with any pr/ Marketing people as bad as this one! In the end, I have change my venue to another one 3 days before my party. Well, we will enjoy more service then with Stanza Restaurant and Late Night Bar!

Went last friday night for a friends 23rd birthday and mainly because they were offering tables for prebooked parties and seemed a lot better organised than anywhere else.

We were actually early , but the door staff and restaurant staff were fab, really friendly and found us a table in the corner til ours was ready. Yummy cocktails and free replacements for the ones we spilled.
Lucky we were there early cos it gets really crowded and the place was nearly full by 10. Lots of people seemed to get there before they start charging on the door. Anyway we were in the VIP area, which was just as well as at one point we couldn't move let alone dance, but it was a Friday night in London.

The only down side was that getting cocktails later took forever and we had to switch to Bottle service.

Overall its a good place not too expensive and and the music is cool and dancy, but Id always book a table there as its much more civilised.

We went to this 'club' on saturday and all I can advise is NEVER go to such a terrible place! we were approached by a tout on the street who said half of us would get in for free as it was a birthday celebration, when we got to the door we were told by the very rude door person we all had to pay. Once inside the club the only good thing about the venue were the toliets (of which there are loads), everything else was awful. The music was shocking, we were told it would be a mixture of commercial music and rnb, infact they played bashment, and heavy rnb. We managed to dance to 3 songs for the time we were there. The average age of the crowd was 19 (or so it seemed), we felt very out of place celebrating a 26th birthday. The venue is no more than a bar, trying to be club....we left and paid to get into another club (the shaftsbury) with a nice mixed crowd and mixed music.

If you want to have a good time then stay well away from this dreadful place, and try any other club in the area.

Birthday place yyeeeaah.
Had a great birthday party night here with few friends. Sorry about the breakages guys..but thanks for the cakes and the flaming candles. I was nearly ill after the hubble bubble pipe but the pictures we got were fab, even if we were a little green. Anyway. thanks to Steve the Dj, and the dark haired hunky guy behind the bar..
Mary has her birthday coming up in may so we'll be back. :)
be warned..

yes it's me the Funky DJ from Stanza
i guess from the above, you girls were the ones in last friday, dancing the floor away? I have to admit i did wonder what you were on, but it was a pleasure to play for you. Everyone seemd to be having a good time, and i'm sure the bar has spare glasses somewhere.:) no harm done.
Let me know what dates you are coming back. I'm there most thursdays and fridays and we can script the music for your special dance.tee hee.
Also i think one of you disappeared with my beloved beany. Red and green..Can you drop it back to club sometime as my grandpa wants it back.

We don't usually do these reviews , but the staff were so much fun that we promised to review it for them and got some free coffees. Bribery works just fine with us!. Its a fine place to eat in Soho.
Anyway, we dined there on the recommendation of a friend and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was spacious and buzzing for a Tuesday. The drinks were great value…we got a lovely bottle of Italian white for £15 and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend the place to anyone and will definitely be back.

I had booked a table and when we arrived (on time) we were told OUR table wasn't quite ready. We had a drink at the bar and waited, then we were told there had been a mix up with table bookings and we would have to have our dinner at one of the tables in the bar area.

Our waitress was a scruffy, cockney girl who actually sat down at our table while she took our orders. It was really really unprofessional and not the kind of service you'd expect when you're paying reasonably high prices. Very poor customer service standards.

Great club...quite small and had to queue for a bit but once we were in had a brilliant night. Music was good and as it was busy from early on there was a great atmosphere all night. Wished we’d bothered to book a table as there weren’t loads of places to sit but the wicked cocktails and cute bar staff made up for that.

After reading the other reviews I thought I would have my say. To be honest I think they were a bit unfair!

We don't usually go into central for a night out- we like to avoid the usual clubs round there, but a friend was having a birthday in Stanza so I had no choice. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Yes the door staff I'm sure can be rude, but if you go anywhere with an attitude the door staff are going to take a dislike to you. They were all very nice to me!

The music was good, the cocktails amazing(!) and I had a brilliant time (as well as the rest of the party). If I am ever in central for a night out I will definitely be back- even if its just for an early evening cocktail.

Make up your own mind and try it just once.

Hello every one just got into work feeling a little worse for wear still recovering from the long weekend i had but i had a memorable one i go out in west end a lot and on Saturday i decided to venture out of my usual spot in the square and found a busy que on Shaftesbury avenue, i joined the que which i must admit was a little long and i waited for i would say half hour to get in but once i reached the front of the que i was greeted by a massive bouncer who seemed to be rejecting a fair few groups before me i expected the usual attitude ya get from Bouncers but i was pleasantly surprised he was nice to us and the door picker made a few jokes too we got in for 15£ each which was a little pricey i must say but the experience got better and the night was great we stayed till the end of the night which was filled with decent music and friendly staff well bar one of the barmen who seemed to only be intersted in chatting up the ladys but hey there is allways one oh and where are the FIT bar women grrrr lol no eye candy working there but there was a fair bit of talent in the crowd.

i had a good night so did my mates goota say i will come back even if its just for the banter i recieved to get in lol nah but to be honest the night was a 7/10 so i would reccomend it to anyone.

Steven signing out.

Are all you people below me crazy????I was there this weekend and had an amazing night (Saturday). Put yourself on the house list. We were put on the list and able to jump the queue when i mentioned it was my friends birthday! OK so there aren't many seats as they are always take up early, but we found a way round this and booked a table in the VIP area! Plenty of room, great waitress, and even our own toilets! yay no waiting in line!!! I'm seriously thinking that everyone is going somewhere else - i could not fault this club!! Yes its busy! (that's a good thing isn't it??)

To anyone that is considering a night out! Don't listen to the haters below me! Just try the club out and I am sure that you will have a good time! But only book with the club itself - it seems that all the problems come when the promoters or street promoters are involved!!

Well.. as a regular on Fridays there i have admit to liking the place and the music.? I guess it depends on what you want on a friday night out.? Personally I hate the crowded trashy bars and clubs in leicester square so we generally head up to Soho around 9.oo and get in without too much trouble .
The music is cool and the staff are pretty friendly.
OK so there are morons on the door occasionally, but they are the same everywhere.
i really like the table layout overlooking Chinatown if you can afford it. Best to bring a mate or 8 with you to get these seats.

Terrible place, I'm surprised places like this able to operate. Ramming ppl in and then paying for a cheap DJ isn't what I call a amazing night. Bar staff were the only decent ones. 21s that's BS there were girls there from 18 yrs. If your looking for a mature crowd then this isn't the place to be.

trashy trashy trashy I agree, music, atmosphere, crowd. I would rate it one the top 10 worst. The only thing is has going for it maybe the view but that can be found in many clubs situated in LSquare. If your after a fun filled chilled out night, this is NOT the place to go...you're better of walking an extra 10mins to Penthouse. The DJ needs to expand his play-list. If your after a sweaty, smelly, gloomy, b*****y crowd, and average home made playlist go on and head down there.

If I could recommend where NOT to this would definitely be the place!
Avoid this place on Friday nights, I went there yesterday after being persuaded by a promoter, the crowd full of chavs and hooligans, security are useless. The music and the ambiance are of a poor standard. It had barely any seat and to be charging £10-£15 for this place its definite not worth paying for.

aloha, i '#m thinking that this person went to a diff'rent space. ??
This club is cool. Specially the members chil bar, that you can get into for free on fridays and saturdays? whats your problem woman? in fact how did you get past security to get in in the first place.??
We drops in there regular so we know the layout , and once they know you evryting is groovy.
Staff and punters seem to be regulars too, so maybe being normal is a good ting.!!
I wuz there last sat and there was problem with the sound early ,but it did'nt spoil the evening for 99% of the crowd.
anyways the only reason i'm writing this is that i'm going to be there with a party this sat again and i don't wanna meet you.

Been to Stanza Restaurant and Late Night Bar a few time both on a Friday night and a Saturday. Always, always have had a good night. The door code is quite strict - probably why most of you other people have been turned away. I walays make sure all my group are smart and sexy, have our id and we have never had a problem getting in! Quese are always big and have heard a few people say that it almost always gets to full capacity by midnight! I would recomend it to anyone! Dont listen to all the haters out there!

This is the WORST club. For central London Picadilly Area this place is so back dated! The music and the ambience are of a poor standard. It is pitch black inside and that you can't see anyone or even identify your mates for that matter. No lighting whatsoever! I could barely hear the music over the distortion and the volume was so low at the back I could hear myself singing over the actual track. The only place I could have a dance to a decent level of volume was the dancefloor. When I got to the dancefloor it was like a sweat box! No air co no fan nothing just pure sweat! Then this is the worst part...I found out there was a members bar and I popped in. Entering the members bar was pure 'SHOCK HORROR!'. All English people and the rest of nationalities separated to the bar area. I instantly left then. We are in the 21st century. I DO NOT think that this club should be encouraging this type of segregation!

Oh my goodness! What a night. The DJ was absolutely astonishing. He played everything. Mixed it clean quick, scratched like a pro. No mistakes! I thought he was cheating then ended up watching him for about half an hour and he wasn't. REAL PRO. I'm all about my music in the venue. I have never found a DJ like this in London. He got the party going in this venue! Definitely coming back! I must say the venue is very dark inside. Drinks are reasonably priced. No problem getting in. Giving this DJ a 5 star and an overall rating 4 as the venue was too sark i could barely see anyone. Great night out

Stanza Saturday night, got there early (around 9:30) put my self on the guestlist, my whole party had free entry as we did arrive at 9:30 but waited in the queue for 20 mins we explain to desk and they let us in free, While in the queue I was wondering why the hell I had booked Stanza Restaurant and Late Night Bar for my wife’s 30th birthday (a few to many 18 year olds – who fortunately got turned away for not having id). Once inside the vibe was amazing (worth the wait). My group found ourselves a free table (there are a few) and dance from 10pm up until they switched the lights on, we had a fantastic time, there was really nothing I could complain about.

The bouncers were great and friendly and as we presented politeness and maturity we received it back. My crazy cousins did arrive later around 11:30 but couldn’t get in as it was 20 out, 1 in, rule in place by then, it wasn’t to packed inside and I understand why that rule is in place, the club is of small but decent size, overcrowding it would make it a awful experience, the number of people inside was well maintained. Almost a 10 out of 10 night, my advice is get there for 9 pm and receive free entry for all!

Can't believe this terrible club. How was it? well after 1.5 hours yes 1.5hours of waiting in the cold despite being on the guestlist yes being on the guestlist i didn't get in. Why becaus they started letting it some guests from an opposite side queue. frost bitten and dejected 50 of us yes 50 of us left and went to a real club. we went to another venue after a kind person pointed one out to us where we were treated like human beings. Do not go to this place as they have no regard for guests. Do not go to this place if you want to go out. This place can be accused of false advertising, the owners should be ashamed.

Good spot and music and friendly staff!
not expensive either.

We had a screwed up early evening booking at..ahem lets say..cheat eats, but got in here for free before the show.
The tables look over chinatown whihc is pretty cool and the manager let us have a cocktail in the members bar which is a real snug.
can't say who was sitting near us, but lets say they have the Factor.

We were a large group(12) so this was great for us.
A quick chat with the helpful manager got us a reservation for later as well so we came back after and the place was heaving. no space to sit but our birthday girl had a great time.
sorry about the spilt drinks :}

We 'd go again just for the food.

Best Club night on Shafts Ave even after my cheap drinks at Walkabout have gone walkabout now.

Ever ones friendly and staff are good, but there are some 'blood suckin ' guys at the door after 10.00 which is spoiling getting in.

We talked to the nice lady in the bar and are gonna book direct to avoid the door hasll. Why do they need them?

I must try a £12 juice? ?? Wow obvoisly they don't like you. mine was £2.50 but went up when we added the vodka. snigger.Ag (not from corrie..)

hey, Went to this place for the first time last weekend. hada blast.

The door was £10 after 10pm but we'd been tipped to get there before then so no Q and got in free.

Music was a bit Heavy at one stage as well ,but the place was bopping till late.FEw too many cockytails thanks to the nice lady waiting on us.

Bets thing is book direct with the venue then you avoid all the moneygrubbers mucksters on the door and get straight in. good vibe.

I went on a Friday with friends for my sister's birthday do after ignoring the advice of a friend who had a bad experience earlier in the year as we had been to many places around central and wanted to try Stanza out. What a shocker.

Bad things everywhere. Drinks were VERY average but expensive, waiters were snobby, rude and slow.

Guests on the guests list had to pay to get in even though it was way before 10pm and those were the lucky ones.

Half my group couldn't get in after 10pm which totally ruined our evening. I can only say the place is run by wannabes but in a very amateurish state. None of us will ever go there again.

STANZA WARNING !!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE ON SATURDAYS I very occasionally write reviews on venues, however I need to help ensure this doesn’t happen to you.

I was asked to attend a birthday event at this venue on Saturday 25th. On the Stanza website, the venue states that the entrance is free before 10pm and free for names on a guest list before 11pm.

I was on the guest list and turned up at the venue at 9.50pm. I turned up to the venue and walked in only to be stopped by the event organiser, where he asked us to pay, I asked him why I had to pay as I was there before 10pm.. and was on the guest list.

I even pointed out to the clock behind the event organiser where it showed 9.50pm. He mumbled a few aggressive and uncalled for words and charged us for entry. Now the bit that annoyed me the most was the attitude of the event organiser.

Stanza – If you want to protect your reputation, I suggest they stop working with this punk of an event organiser as he is clearly damaging your reputation.

As a whole the venue is extremely small, and walls and ceilings were dripping of sweat, lack of any decent air conditioning?, The drinks are extortionate, we are talking £11 for a glass of orange juice, come on STANZA hire people that speak and understand English?WARNING !!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE ON SATURDAYS

A family member held their birthday here. Got to the door a few mins before 10pm - we were told it was free to get in before 10pm!

The door man had no problem letting us in free then the guy at the desk inside decided to charge us - we said its not even 10pm yet - all he did was shrug his shoulders with attitude and quote 'Its my night!!'.

Didnt have a problem with paying more the principle and rude attitude at the door!!! We were there for a birthday, hence the only reason we didnt walk away!!!

Then to add to my fury i found out later on in the night that ladies are free before a certain time!!

I went here recently on a saturday and really enjoyed it.

Me and my friends got their early which was lucky as it got really busy later on!

The music was really good, much better then most other west end places we go to!Vibe was really good and drinks were reasonably priced for a west end club!

We also loved that the smoking area is inside the club so no need to keep having to go in and out all the time!We enjoyed it so much i will be returning again very soon for my bday!

Had a fantastic night on Saturday 5th September for my daughter's 18th birthday.

I booked a restaurant table and a bar table. On Saturday afternoon I got a 'phone call to confirm the booking.

We arrived at 10.00 coming straight from a show. My only minor critiscism is that the front door staff are not at all friendly and could do with some smiling lessons. However once inside we went to the main reception where we were expected and warmly welcomed.

Having been sat at a great window table, chosen by the staff as it was away from the direct line of sound from the club, my daughter was presented with a celabratory glass of champagne.

Given that I had only mentioned her birthday when booking to confirm that they would soften the over 21 door policy as it was just 4 of us including mum & dad, this was an incredible piece of customer service as the person taking the booking clearly noted the occasion.

Our waiter was friendly and efficient. The food was great, if you order the fish pie be prepared for a huge serving, and reasonably priced for London. The wine is a little expensive, as are the bar drinks but not at all unreasonable for central London night life.

Although we were all too full to eat a dessert my daughter was presented with a glass of sorbet with a sparkler, on a plate with Happy Birthday written beautifully in chocolate. After the meal we were given a reserved table in the Members' Bar, we had one drink and decided to move to the main club where another reserved table was waiting for us.

The Maitre'D (who was an amazing guy who worked really hard all night) made sure that everything went perfectly. According to my daughter the music in the club was spot-on, exactly what she would have wanted if she'd had the opportunity to chose. All in all the staff of Stanza provided us with a fantastic evening. We would recommend Stanza, whether you're 18 or 49

I heard so many positive reviews about this place. Was quite disappointed when we eventually got in. Maybe we were there on the wrong night but the place was empty and the DJ refused to play our requests. We left 15 minutes later.

On the flip-side, all the staff were pleasant and drinks were reasonably priced for London, good layout and would probably come back if there was event being held there.

I just have to say i had and awesome time this Friday just gone!I was in for dinner with a bunch of my friends, we had starters and mains and dessert!!!!

All AMAZING.Plus our waiter was funny and very accommodating!

For after we had booked a table in the bar area too, they had a night on called "Soul Fridays" which played 90's Soul, RnB and funky house!

great crowd and lots of dancing!I noticed they do all these in house events too! Bingo, wine tasting and a comedy night.

Thinking of going to the comedy night this Wednesday!Highly recommended!
