See the Phantom Menace from a new dimension at the first ever screening of Star Wars in 3D at BFI IMAX. The state of the art screen on the South Bank is just one of the cinemas with 3D capabilities to show the first prequel in the intergalactic series by George Lucas, thirteen years since it was first released.

Episode I
The first of the Star Wars films to be converted into 3D format, The Phantom Menace takes you back to the beginning and introduces the young Anakin Skywalker and his protectors, the Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Released just in time for the half term school holidays, tickets for Star Wars 3D at BFI IMAX are likely to be in high demand, so make sure you reserve your seat to see all the 3D action on screen.

3D re-release
There's no denying that 3D cinema has seen something of an explosion in popularity in the past few years, with new films such as Avatar and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland pulling in the crowds. With films such as Titanic and The Lion King being given the retrospective 3D treatment and released for a second time, fans of the 3D movie experience are spoilt for choice with a seemingly endless selection of films from which to choose. Don your specs for the screening of Star Wars 3D at BFI IMAX and let all the action and special effects from The Phantom Menace jump out of the screen and right up to your cinema seat.

Action highlights
Action sequences that fans are bound to look forward to at the screenings of Star Wars 3D at BFI IMAX is the Tatooine Podrace and the tension filled lightsaber duel between Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul. Action sequences aside, The Phantom Menace is also notable for depicting the first meeting between R2-D2 and C3PO.

Future plans
Following the release of The Phantom Menace, there are plans to release the rest of the Star Wars films in consecutive years. But if that seems like far too long a wait, relive your memories of seeing the films the first time round by casting your eye over their reviews.
