NSPCC Step Change Challenge
The Gherkin building is part of the iconic London skyline and this spring is open to the public in an exclusive charity event in aid of the NSPCC. Challenging groups or individuals to run up over 1,000 steps to get to the top, the charity event is set to get pulses racing as well as wallets opening.
1,037 steps for £125,000
The aim of the Step Change Challenge at Gherkin building is to raise money for ChildLine on behalf of the NSPCC. Working on behalf of abused and neglected children in the UK, the charity is in desperate need of funds to continue to train counsellors and staff to help support their phone lines. By taking part in the challenge or sponsoring someone who is, you will be helping to make a difference.
New Year challenge
If you have never taken part in a fun run or an athletic charity event, then now is the time to start. As 30 St Mary Axe, or the Gherkin as it is affectionately known, is generally closed to the public, the NSPCC Step Change Challenge at Gherkin building allows you exclusive access to this famous venue. By running or walking up the 38 floors on your own or in a team or four, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views when you pause for breath, and even celebrate with a glass of Champagne at the top.
Raising money
Entry for an individual in the Step Change Challenge at Gherkin building costs £20.00 and you will be expected to raise at least £250.00. Team entrance costs £70.00, and the minimum value you should raise is £1000.00. For those that really can't face the blood, sweat and tears to get to the top, there is an alternative - fork out £75.00 for a Champagne lift pass and go straight to the top.
