Classic play
A Streetcar Named Desire premiered in the US way back in 1947, and featured future Hollywood legend Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski. The play ran for over two years, by which time it had been widely heralded as a classic piece of theatre, winning the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1948, and adapted as a film in 1951. The film, also starring Brando, was a huge success, receiving 12 Academy Awards and cementing Brando’s position as the number one Hollywood star.

The Donmar Warehouse production of Streetcar will be directed by Rob Ashford, one of the most respected names in Broadway history. Streetcar will debut in July at the Donmar Warehouse.
