Spend the summer at Kew Gardens exploring all the natural wonders to be seen in the grounds, and discover another side to the historic venue with photo exhibitions and other special events.

Whispering in the Leaves
One of the highlights of the summer at Kew Gardens festival is bound to be the Whispering in the Leaves sound installation by Chris Watson, which aims to transport you to the rainforests of South and Central America with its recordings of exotic bird calls, shrieking monkeys and the sounds of nocturnal insects. Designed specially for the Palm House, Whispering in the Leaves is played on the hour throughout the day as the perfect audio accompaniment to all the tropical vegetation that lives within the Victorian glass and iron structure.

Wild Kew
As well as the sight of all the flowers in bloom, more visual treats over the summer at Kew Gardens comes courtesy of Wild Kew, an exhibition of the work of wildlife photographer Heather Angel. Revealing the secret lives of the insects, frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals that make their homes amongst the gardens' stunning flora, the photos feature everything from colourful male golden pheasants to the humble newt.

Summer Swing
Returning once again for 2010, the Summer Swing at Kew is destined to be the highlight of many a music fan. Jools Holland, Bjorn Again and the Bootleg Beatles are just some of the acts to appear live over the summer at Kew Gardens, and ticket holders will also be treated to a fireworks display after each concert, too.

Events for kids
Families with young children will also find plenty to do during the Kew summer festival, with talks, tours and guided walks designed to help you make the most of the seasonal displays. Kids can also run riot at the PLANTastic Play outdoor play area, walk amongst fluttering moths and butterflies and see huge sculptures of various bugs and beasties at the Princess of Wales Conservatory.

Summer at Kew Gardens runs from Saturday 29th May - Sunday 5th September 2010. Admission to Kew is £13.50 for adults, £11.50 with concessions, and free for members and children under 17.
