Enjoy a fantastic summer of sport at O2 Arena over sumer 2008 as the venue invites kids and family to get out on the court, score a few goals, hit some aces, slam dunk some balls and learn how to do back flips. With all kinds of sporting action free to everyone who wants to try it out, the Summer of Sport at O2 is getting London active again.

Running over the school holidays and throughout the Beijing Olympics, the Summer of Sport at O2 will see seven weeks of different sports activities and events taking place that will encourage kids, youngsters and even adults to try out something new.

From Sunday 20th July to Thursday 4th September 2008 each week of the Summer of Sport at O2 will see a different sport or kind of sport take centre stage, as everyone gets to have a go at gymnastics, basketball, football, or tennis, amongst other sports. A sure fire hit with any kids that love their sport already, the summer activities also hope to encourage those that don't currently take part in any regular games, to get interested and maybe take something up for the long term.

And given that the 2008 Olympic Games will get their own special week, there are certain to be plenty of people inspired by the GB team as they do their best to bring home the gold medals for the UK. Want to be considered for the 2012 Olympics? Now is the time to make yourself heard, and the Summer of Sport at O2 Arena is the perfect place to start to make a noise about your talents.

Like to watch sport, but not sure if all that running around and sweating is good for you? Fear not, there will be plenty of chance to indulge in your favourite sports safe from the safety of the spectactors arena. Not only does the Summer of Sport event cater for the active sorts, if you want to sit back and watch the action, you can catch all the action at the O2, or see what's showing on the big screen which will be showing key sporting fixtures throughout the summer.

Smaller children and film fans are also catered for with a play area with a sand pit, hop scotch and reading corners. Sunday nights see sporting films up on the big screens, with the likes of Field of Dreams, Bend it Like Beckham, Chariots of Fire and Coach Carter. With so much to try and so many events to enjoy, the Summer of Sport at O2 Arena is sure to be one of the major sporting events for all Londoners in 2008.

The weekly schedule for the Summer of Sport activities looks like this:

Monday 21st - Monday 28th July: Racket Week
Try out tennis, badminton, soft ball and swing ball. The Sunday night film screening is Wimbledon.

Tuesday 29th - Saturday 2nd August: Bat and Ball Week
Cricket is the name of the game this week and you can see live matches up on the big screen, try out table tennis, baseball and cricket for yourself.

Sunday 3rd - Saturday 9th August: Football Week
The David Beckham Football Academy is here for a week with a team of coaches giving you the lowdown on all the best football tips and tricks. All kids that take part this week will have the chance to win a day's free coaching at the Academy. The Sunday night film screening is Bend it Like Beckham

Sunday 10th - Sunday 17th August: Olympics Week
Celebrate the start of 2008 Beijing Olympics with love broadcasts and Olympic style challenges for everyone at the O2. The first Sunday night film screening is Without Limits, and the second Sunday night film screening is Chariots of Fire.

Monday 18th - Sunday 24th August: Basketball Week
Current and veteran players from the GB team and the NBA will be showing you how to slam dunk with off court tutorials and exercises sessions. The Sunday night film screening is Coach Carter.

Monday 25th - Wednesday 27th August: Gymnastics Week
Get ready for the World Gymnastics Championships in 2009 with taster sessions for the public, with fantastic performances from the professionals in the evening.

Thursday 28th August - Thursday 4th September: Bat and Racket Week
The NatWest Trophy cricket matches will be shown on the big screens and workshops with the Premier Sports team will give you the chance to improve your skills in cricket, table tennis and other sports.
