Fans of ultra modern design can check out a host of specially commissioned works at the Super Contemporary exhibition London event, which is being held at the Design Museum between June and October 2009.

Super Contemporary exhibition London
Celebrating the past, present and future of design in London and showcasing the work of some of the city's mosted talented designers, the Super Contemporary exhibition London event aims to explore what makes the UK capital a magnet for world class creatives. Paul Smith, Thomas Heatherwick and Ron Arad are just some of the designers whose work will be featured in the show.

Specially commissioned work
Working in partnership with Beefeater 24, the Design Museum has commissioned 15 works from leading designers to feature in the Super Contemporary exhibition. London and its spirit and culture was to be the brief, and design and art lovers will be able to see the results of this challenge when the plans are unveiled at the Super Contemporary show.

Exhibition highlights
The show includes work by fashion designers Paul Smith and Wayne Hemingway, as well as product designer Ron Arad. David Adjaye and Thomas Heatherwick have designed a new bus stop and lamppost for a reimagined London streetscape, and Nigel Coates has produced plans for Battersea Power Station.

Personal maps
Also included in the exhibition are a series of personal maps that chart the creative networks of the designers involved. The show also features a highly visual timeline celebrating the highpoints of London's past design achievements in the fields of architecture, fashion, and product design, including the Lloyds of London building and the first ZX80 Sinclair personal computer.

The Super Contemporary exhibition London event at the Design Museum runs 10am - 5.45pm daily from Wednesday 3rd June - Sunday 4th October 2009.

Standard adult tickets cost £8.50; concessions are £6.50, students are £5.00, and children under 12 go free. For more information, call the museum on 0207 940 8790.
