An exhibition of work by Susan Hiller at Tate Britain brings together a selecion of her key pieces to explore her artistic interpretation of dreams, memories and supernatural experiences.

Susan Hiller at Tate Britain
Having emerged onto the art scene in the 1970s, Susan Hiller has become one of the most influential artists of her generation. Working with a deliberate process of collecting, cataloguing and restaging of objects and experiences, she has explored the unconscious mind throughout her career, and the nature of imagination versus experience.

Installations
Much of the work on show in the exhibition by Susan Hiller at Tate Britain takes on different forms but comes together as a series of installations. Magic Lantern works by using coloured light projections, Enquiries/Inquiries is based on the difference between British and American encyclopaedias, and Monument invites viewers to listen to a tape recording of Hillers voice whilst looking at pictures of a neglected monument. By selecting these varied approaches to her subject matter, fans of contemporary art are able to see the full scope of Hillers unique approach to exploring her popular themes.

Exhibition highlights
One of the strongest themes recurrent throughout Susan Hillers career is her interest in the subconscious. On show in the exhibiton by Susan Hiller at Tate Britain you can see several major works on the matter, many of which have been put together by collecting memories of dreams or through the use of automatic writing. More recent works such as Psi Girls, which is a five screen installation of clips of telekinetic women from films, and Witness, which details hundreds of accounts of extraterrestrial expreiences, are sure to be two of the most popular exhibits on show.

The exhibition on Susan Hiller at Tate Britain takes place from 10am - 6pm Tuesday 1st February - Sunday 15th May 2011. Tickets for this exhibition are not yet on sale - click back soon for more information.
