Head to the Tate Triennial exhibition to see work from some of the best contemporary artists in Britain today. From painting, film and video to mind boggling installations, this multi media exhibition features many new works shown in public for the very first time.

Tate Triennial exhibition
The fourth such Tate Triennial exhibition at Tate Britain, the 2009 triennial will showcase the talents of high profile contemporary artists such as Tacita Dean, Simon Starling and Mike Nelson. Other creative contributions from groundbreaking artists such as Marcus Coates, Rachel Harrison, and David Noonan are also sure to draw in the crowds and make for an engaging and challenging show.

Nicolas Bourriaud
This year's Tate Triennial exhibition is titled Altermodern, and has been curated by Nicholas Bourriaud, the creative force behind the seminal contemporary arts gallery Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Bourriaud has been working on the Altermodern Triennial exhibition since 2007, so expect a well thought out show when you visit the Tate.

Altermodern
Bourriaud's ground breaking concept behind the Tate Triennial exhibition is the idea that there is a new artistic movement emerging for the 21st century. The alternative modern, defined by Bourriaud as Altermodern, might be seen as distinct from the postmodernism movement because of its global cultural influences and concerns. Key artists from the Altermodern movement are presented at the Tate Britain Triennial show, so you can take a look and decide what you think.

Special events
A number of special talks, tours and special events are taking place around the Altermodern Triennial show. One such special feature is a free audio guide to the exhibition which fuses hip hop and jazz music with vocal and narrative layers.
