See the latest work by celebrity tattoo artist Henry Hate in the form of a giant tattoo ice cube at South Bank. The unusual ice sculpture and public art installation will be installed at Potters Fields and then left to melt away over three days.

Celebrity artist
He might be responsible for the permanent etching on the bodies of celebrities such as Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty and Alexander McQueen, but now Henry Hate is creating a rather more fleeting work of art in the form of the tattoo ice cube at South Bank. Henry Hate is using Japanese Samurai chisels to carve his unique tattoo design into the giant cubed ice sculpture that can be seen at Potters Fields for just three days.

Cube in a cube
Thought to be the first tattoo ice sculpture in the world, the art installation is being created to mark the launch of the new Nissan Cube. The stylish car is already enjoying cult status in Japan, and the tattoo ice cube at South Bank will actually contain a Cube car frozen at its centre which will gradually emerge as the ice melts away over the course of three days.

Interactive installation
As a special addition to the tattoo ice cube at South Bank, the art installation has an interactive sensor panel which allows you to light up parts of Henry Hate's tattoo design. The interactive panel also provides information on how the art project came into being, as well as the design aspects of the Nissan Cube.

The Henry Hate tattoo ice cube at South Bank can be seen from 9am on Tuesday 9th February. The ice sculpture will be in place at Potters Fields for three days. The event is free to attend.
