Take to the floor with the Tea Dance at Spitalfields Crispin Place. Back for the spring and summer season, you can take your partner by the hand and have a jolly good old fashioned foxtrot from now until the end of September.
Tea Dance at Spitalfields
Taking place once a month throughout the warmer months, the traditional tea dance sessions give dancers of all ages and ability to enjoy a professional orchestra and the chance to trip the light fantastic. Located in the outside space of Crispin Place, the dances are all set to the music of the Covent Garden Dance Orchestra, who are responsible for reintroducing the fashion for tea dances at the Royal Opera House.
Dance classics
Playing a multitute of classic dancing tunes, the Tea Dance at Spitalfields is the ideal place to try out new steps or put into practise what you may have been learning at dance classes. Popular with oldies as well as young whippersnappers, this is your chance to see how it would have been done, back in the day. Or if you are an oldie rather than a young whippersnapper, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for to show you can still cut some rug, and shake your thing. Or, do the cha cha cha, if you prefer.
Party like it's 1939
Giving the Tea Dance at Spitalfields the ultimate touch of class, the music at the sessions will all come from the 30s, 40s and 50s. With the original music that would have been played at tea dances over 50 years ago, you and your dancing friends can
recreate the glamour of bygone eras. Taking place as part of the Spitalfields summer event programme, this is the perfect way to enjoy the warmer weather and appreciate some truly classic tunes.
Tea Dance dates
The summer tea dances at Spitalfields take place on the last Friday of every month from April - September. Dates for the 2011 sessions are:
