Sample the wealth of produce sourced from London's famous river with the Thames menu at Swan at The Globe. The restaurant by the iconic Shakespeare's Globe theatre is serving up a range of dishes inspired by both the historic and modern day produced from the river.

Thames Festival
Celebrating the Thames Festival with a month long menu inspired by the famous London river, the Thames menu at Swan at The Globe features produce such as brown shrimps, cockles, herring and Theale Mallard that have been fished from the Thames for centuries. Spices and exotic fruits that were originally brought into the city via the Thames in the 1500s will also feature in the special menu.

Highlight dishes
Highlights from the Thames menu at Swan at The Globe include potted brown shrimps with smoked cayenne pepper, as well as baked herring and Thames Estuary cockles with Weston's cider sauce. Desserts include roasted pineapple with cracked black pepper and cinnamon ice cream.

Mitten crabs
A relatively new addition to the Thames ecosystem will also make a special appearance on the Thames menu at Swan at The Globe. Although classed as a pest, Chinese mitten crabs feature heavily in South East Asian street food, and at the Swan at The Globe limited edition menu, the Chinese delicacy will be served in a mitten crab bisque with roast garlic brioche.

The Thames menu at Swan at The Globe is available throughout September 2010. The menu is available for dinner Monday - Saturday and for lunch on Sunday, at £19.95 for two courses, and £22.95 for three courses. For more information and to make a reservation, call 0207 928 9444.
