I went there for the first time last night (Saturday) knowing nothing about the Big Chill Bar and had a fantastic night. Great atmosphere, everyone seemed very relaxed and just enjoying their drinks and the music. Only downside was glasses kept piling high on the side of tables and then someone would walk by and accidentally knock them off so there were several piles of smashed glass around (most of which we seemed to carry home stuck in the soles of our shoes). However, I don't know if this is a regular thing and it couldn't stop us from dancing- I still had an excellent night. Having only lived in London for a few months and trying to discover new places to go out to this one is worth a return visit.

Really bad customer service, staff are more bothered about chatting to each other then serving you a drink.

I booked an area here on a Saturday night. We arrived on time and there were people sitting at our table. The girl behind the bar was really helpful and went out of her way to go and tell them to move.

The night was amazing - totally relaxed and friendly. bar staff were brilliant. Even when the bar was packed they were quick and friendly.

Great music, great vibe - 5 stars!

Always enjoyed my visits to The Big Chill Bar, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. That was until today. I have spent hundreds of pounds over the time I have visted. Please bare with my tale. My phone was stolen this weekend so I lost all numbers including my families. I had a cheap phone to function on and at least had my fathers number. Whilist drinking my beer I recieved a call from a doctor to say my father had been taken to hospital, I quickly went inside and asked for a pen behind the bar, I was told no I said that it was very important could he please ask for me. Answer no. I have to say I was shocked considering my situation. Anyway I managed to get one from a customer outside and be able to take the vital information. After the call I thought I would have one more drink after the news. When I approached the bar I was told that I was abusive to the staff. When I asked to see the manager he said he was busy, and behind The Big Chill Bar man laid 3 pens on the counter! After that the bar man insulted my Military ties. I walked out for his safety and bit my lip. I am very disapointed with this treatment. Thanks Big Chill for helping a man in need and supporting your armed forces.

Good bar, good music, great food... but like the rest of Brick Lane, it closes way too early

Love love love big chill.

best place to have a nice good social night out with friends or even great for meeting new people, everyone seems to be so chilled out.

only downside is it closes at 12 which is a disappointment.

I love Big Chill Bar. It's one of the best bars in London definitely.

You can have really relaxed time, especially when the sun is shinning and your sitting outside drinking beer and having a smoke :)

I was there last Sunday and it was amazing, there were two gays playing the guitar I guess they were recording a video or something. The atmosphere was just lovely.

The staff is really friendly and there are really cute bartenders :)

Overall If you want to have a fab time and not to stay too late Big Chill is definitely the place, although I'd prefer if they closed a little bit later.

I visited big chill recently and was pleasantly surprised, had a really good time, the djs really got the crowd going and the bar staff were all having a good time too.

drinks were average london prices, £3.25 for an amstel, and they had deals on cocktails and some beers.

Really liked the decor, wouldn't say it was dingy at all.

My only complaint is they don't stay open longer! Definitely coming back

Wasn't over-awed with this place. Not so 'industrial' in decor as dingy. The people on this particular night were not particularly chilled out. Raucous home-counties girls straight from work with peroxide hair, eyeliner that would scare marilyn manson and attitude to match through to the slightly odd and down-right bizarre. I wouldn't really class the clientele here as 'cool' and there was no ambience, just a jumble of mismatched people in their various clusters. Drinks were overpriced (I'm not usually one to moan about this) given the ambience and general lack of effort. Had a good nigt fown to the people I was with, most of which was spent on the verandah. won't be hurrying back, in fact I don't think much would induce me back. Just not for me.

The Big Chill Bar is a great bar full of cool people. They have a great selection of beers and wine, just like Cantaloupe in Shoreditch. But, the Big Chill Bar is still not half as good as a good ol' night out in the legendary Vibe bar around the corner.

The Big Chill is a wicked bar but by far the best thing about it is the people (much like the festival). It was a strange feeling to go out in Shoreditch and meet people that are actually willing to engage in conversation.

The Big Chill Bar comes highly recommended!

The Big Chill Bar is generally good if you are with a group. It is mostly for people who are locals. Go to Turnmills afterwards though.

The Big Chill Bar is great, though the name doesn't really deliver on a Friday or Saturday night, when it is extremely busy. Any other time at The Big Chill Bar more or less guarantees you some nice, chilled music and a relaxed atmosphere.

As far as I can determine, this place is not popular with the ridiculously trendy crowd, so if you would class yourself as 'ridiculously trendy', maybe there are better places on Brick Lane for you to pose the night away. But for everyone who doesn't think your choice in drink is a fashion statement, it's a great place to spend a relaxed Sunday. Highly recommended.

Stepping into The Big Chill Bar was like taking a step back into 2004. The Big Chill Bar itself is just a bar, nothing fancy, but there's something about the clientele that make it seem so much less than that.

Overly dressed indie kids, bad music...I even saw someone drinking a mojito. Not sure if it was ironic or retro, or both, but whatever.

The Big Chill also has a bit of an awkward layout, but at least there was room to dance drunkenly inbetween other people's conversations.

"I even saw someone drinking a mojito."- what the hell was that supposed to mean?Is mojito passé or sth?

Are we supposed to drink only diamond infused futuristic martinis or some other crazy stuff? That sounds really funny, because I'm a bartender & mojito is an ultimate classic cocktail never out of fashion:)...

The Big Chill is pretty cool place, little cozy bar/club, very casual, but in a good way. If you like some sexy funky tunes u'll have lots of fun in there!

P.S. Always bring some company, friends who u can have fun with, otherwise some bore might ruin your night out!

I love The Big Chill Bar. It's ideal for meeting peeople and is not a bad awkward second date place. Top drawer and it's got wicked sofas.

There are a few people whose mums have bought them a beaded necklace and now they think they're Pete Doherty but where hasn't? The Big Chill Bar is a top place, love it. Nice drinks.

The Big Chill Bar is Brick Lane at its best. The couches are magic and the food and drinks are all you could hope for on a relaxed Sunday afternoon. Wicked music policy too.
Summer sees the BL crowd taking over the pavement in front of the Big Chill.

I love the Big Chill Bar! It has the best atmosphere and is a great place to just hang and chill. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes cool, but not pretentious, spots to watch the world go by.
