The Deep at Natural History Museum explores areas of the sea that are less well known to scientists than the surface of the moon. Bringing to vistors the bizarre creatures and the alien-like landscape, The Deep exhibition is a fascinating look into another world.

The Deep
Natural History Museum is welcoming visitors with a keen interest in marine life and the unusual world under the sea this summer, as The Deep exhibition takes place until 5th September 2010. With creepy looking fish, amazing images and plenty of interactive exhibits to get you really involved, this is set to be one of the hottest shows of the year for kids.

11,000 metres deep
Taking you down 11,000 metres under the sea The Deep at Natural History Museum invites you into an unknown world of monsters and aliens. Well, not quite, but many of the creatures you will see as part of the exhibition are so peculiar looking you could be forgiven for thinking that they are part of the latest sci fi film. From viscious looking angler fish to luminous sea creatures, these animals are certainly no oil paintings.

Harsh environment
Due to the immense pressure of thousands of tonnes of water 11,000 metres under the sea, the creatures that live there have had to adapt to survive in a very hostile environment. Despite their odd looks, many of the animals on show exist in a very fragile bio-diversity that is under constant threat. Here you can explore the world of deep sea exploration and what oceanologists are doing to help protect and preserve this unusal eco system.

Underwater fun
Visitors to the exhibition The Deep at Natural History Museum are able to see stunning images of several inhabitants from miles under the sea, hear the sounds deep sea divers would hear and find out about the cutting edge technology used to investigate the underwater world. A sure fire hit with anyone who loves unusual and peculiar specimens from the animal kingdom, The Deep is a trip into the water unknown.

The Deep at Natural History Museum takes place from 10am - 5.50pm, Friday 28th May - Sunday 5th September 2010. If you would like to book tickets for this event, click on the link below for more information.
