Hmm! Having read the reviews on here (admittedly from a while ago...) I'm not sure it's worth writing another here! It looks as though the old management had an issue Pete and his burger tastes!

But I'm going to write one anyway as I rarely do. To be honest, I had intended to avoid the Green after reading the earlier review banter, but my friend was already there when I arrived in the area. We had lunch on a busy day last Friday and it was ace. The menu was right up my street, I had a pigeon breast salad (cooked perfectly!) to start and my friend had cauliflower soup - both of which were delicious. For mains we had chicken & leek pie with savoy cabbage and I had pork belly. The pie was fantastic and the pork belly was knock out. We were both busy tasting each others dishes and that only happens when the food is good!

The setting is really lovely too with big windows giving lads of light and the staff were good even though the place was really busy. I'll be going back!

My experience with the Green was a complete disaster. We booked our company Christmas lunch with them (for a group of eight) weeks in advance and again confirmed the booking two days in advance. Yet, when we arrived at the place, we were told in a very rude manner that "supposedly" someone from our group called and cancelled our lunch earlier in the day. It sounded as very lame excuse, they refused to let us in, saying that because we allegedly cancelled, the cook did not order food for us in the morning. Yet, they had no more available tables. In reality, it appears that another booking that they have received was for a bigger group than originally anticipated. As the space in the Green is limited, the management of the Green took a decision to "accommodate" that bigger group by simply turning us down on the spot without any advance warning! Their conduct shows that they simply do not care about customers and good reputation. In dealing with us, the staff was extremely rude, unprofessional and simply indecent.

The Green is a fantastic pub with an excellent restaurant upstairs. Delicious food, very good value, friendly staff and a lovely space to eat and relax in. The Green is highly recommended to meet for evening drinks and the best Sunday roast in London.

I love The Green. I had my birthday there last week and they gave us the whole first floor and served us a brilliant menu with whole fresh Barramundi and homemade pies and bread and butter pudding that tasted so good I fell off my chair - honestly.

The staff were really lovely but looked really exhausted when we left the bar downstairs around 2pm. I think the food at The Green has got better and better.

The Green is a joke. I had a burger there that had red raw meat inside and was only cooked on the outside. I notified a waitress who took it away. She came back 20 minutes later when my fiancee had nearly finished her meal and to my dismay they hadn't cooked it properly again.

They offered to get me a fresh one which I refused as my fiancee had now finished. We were then given our bill minus my meal which I stupidly paid. On our way out of The Green I was then offered a free bottle of wine on our return. I would never go back to a place that can't cook a burger even when they aren't busy. Idiots.

Hmm, do you think that it may have been intentional? McDonalds may possibly be a bit more up your street.

To Anonymous Hmm!??!

Sarcasm isn't the most thought out debate is it deary.
I have never eaten in McDonalds and don't ever intend to. As for the "up my street" comment I eat in some of the finest establishments there are and on occasion there is nothing better than biting down on an Aberdeen Beef Burger. However I always specify that I like my beef well done hence being totally and utterly appalled at this chefs inability to give his customer what he wanted.

Next time don't waste you effort on writing childish comments because you will always be found out for what you are.

Pete.

I have eaten at the Green loads of times now, and it is my number one chosen venue for taken clients out for lunch. The service is amazing and the food is amazing.

If you want to eat an overcooked, tasteless piece of meet slapped between two bread rolls the local burger van might be more your thing, Pete, but if you're after good quality, good value food, served by exceptional waiting staff, The Green is the place for you.

Visited friends who took me to The Green one evening, and although I live in Devon - still felt I had to send praise. Excellent, excellent! The Green has great staff, food, drink, atmosphere and best selection on a jukebox, ever.

Highly recommended.

Had a sumptous meal at The Green recently in their newly opened upstairs restaurant, which is now serving proper meals in the evening as well as at lunchtime. Both the bar and restaurant have a great atmosphere, with friendly smiley staff and clientele.

They also have an interesting range of draught beer and the most bloody amazing bloody mary's i've ever tried! The Green comes highly recommended.

I recently visited The Green with a few girlfriends of mine and we left with a great sense of satisfaction! The whole night was a huge success, from the staff to the quality of the food. Everyone went out of their way to accomodate one of my friend's very fussy eating and drinking habits and made sure that she, and every one of us enjoyed our evening.

The atmosphere at The Green is friendly and very inviting and makes you feel special as soon as you walk in. I am arranging a birthday party for a very good friend of mine and will probably book The Green (that's how good it is)! I would recommend that anyone in the area take a vist to The Green, now.

The Green has a great relaxed atmosphere and the evening tapas menu is a must - some of the flavours are simply divine. Me and the girls are always down there sampling the specialities.

It's the flavoured vodka that makes us the most happy though I think. To be honest I can't remember much of the time I spend in The Green, but I come out happy!

The Green is a reasonably new place and it's good to see a breath of fresh air amongst Clerkenwell's pubs and bars. The owners of the Green are pretty keen on keeping your custom, as seen by the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. The Green is a must on a nice summer's day.
