I first had my haircut at Nicky Clarkes a couple of years ago, and had a pleasant visit.
So after moving back to London, I thought I would visit again.
My standards haven't raised in this time, but the level of overall quality has really dropped.
The staff all looked like they needed a happy pill, and the standard was not as high as before.
Sorry, Ill be looking elsewhere.
Had my hair cut at Nicky Clarke's by one of the director hairstylists, Matthew after a recommendation. I was slightly nervous going for the first time, but im now converted. He listened to everything I wanted and as i wanted a side fringe as well he advised me the style that would look best for me and easy to style. He talked me through everything he did, and listened to everything i said in regarding the length and style. My hair was perfect, and he spent plenty of time doing it just right and making sure i was happy the whole way through. Matthew was very friendly and i will be going to see him from now on.
This was the most expensive and ugliest haircut I have ever gotten. The hairdresser, although quite kind and lovely as a person, did not listen to me at all and just went ahead and gave me the haircut he felt like cutting. What he thought looked nice was something embarrassingly trendy which would have been perfect if I was the lead singer of a band, circa 1985. Instead I am a middle aged woman in 2010 with the world's most ridiculous haircut that will probably take about five months to grow out. I thought if I got an expensive haircut, I would get a good one. But as it turns out the more upscale the hairdresser, the less compelled they feel to listen to the lowly client's dumb opinion's about what they want. Clearly they think they know better.
Not met the man myself but his salon is brilliant. They used to have a gorgeous receptionist here but she's gone now, unfortunately.
