Thoroughly enjoyed wedding at the PA last friday. They accomodated everything required and staff could not have been more helpful. Food was delicious. When the kids (big & small!) requested ice cream with the dessert it was no problem. They kept the bubbly flowing and no one was waiting for drink or food at any time. Luckily we had good weather and everyone enjoyed the sunny beer garden. Thanks to all the staff for making it such a lovely day x

Nice sunny garden, charming continental staff - thought I had a find for myself or with clients. No Amy wannabees, in Camden Town, with decent Wine and beers. Not cheap, but good quality products well kept and well served.

Then the food... The "whole Brixham plaice" was obviously mutant: "Whole" - no head, no fins, no tail, no skin and the size of an average dab.

Plaice is not a great fish. It's not turbot or halibut; much of the flavour is within the protective dermis - if you don't like the texture remove it before consumption. A chef who doesn't know this should not bother cooking it. Wilton's need not worry and the good fishermen of Brixham will piss themselves, knowing that those dumb Londoners pay £8+ for something that in fatter days would have been thrown to the gulls (or cat).

Being British I paid the bill, but only as it was justice for my failed attempt to cheat on my wretched slimming regime. Drink - don't eat.

After reading some of the reviews, and never previously having visited the Prince Albert, I feared that it had been a mistake to choose this pub as the venue for Sunday lunch and that we would be faced with poor service and indifferent food. But au contraire! The service was excellent and the food was beautifully cooked and served. I also feared that being Sunday that it would be too crowded and noisy for comfortable dining but again my fears were ill founded. It was pleasantly quiet and not overcrowded.

Good food , nice venue - but the staff - or one member in particular - incredibly rude, just couldn't be bothered at all. We were a large group there for a birthday ( on a cold, wet Tuesday night, so they should have been grateful they even had customers) -he complained we hadn't said we were eating at time of booking- but they never asked. After waiting for our order for about half an hour, those who weren't having starters asked if they could have their main course at the same time as the others' starters. Waiter flatly said 'no' , No apology; no explanation. We asked for bread to stave off hunger pangs , he said they didn't have any ( someone was eating a whole plateful on another table) . He complained again that he hadn't been warned we were eating - if it's that crucial, why don't they ask when they take a booking ? They weren't even full, but everything was just too much trouble. It was a shame as otherwise it seemed like a nice place - but I wouldn't go back. At the end of the meal we asked if those of us leaving early could pay their share, Instead of saying he was sorry but that would be a bit complicated, he said" So you;re asking ME to divide the bill?' Attitude - terrible!

Was there for NYE '09 and had a fantastic time - most fun I've had on New Year's Eve for years. Had a top notch dinner in the restaurant with excellent service then joined a packed bar for the end of year games night. Made new friends and had a truly wonderful time.

Thanks for re-kindling my faith in London gastropubs. First rate!!

Great food, great atmosphere. Went for the 50% discount that they run on Monday's and would have payed the full price for the quality and quantity. I have the Venison stew and my friend had the risotto.. could not fault either.
sticky toffee perfect. will be going back!!

Was delighted when this place opened and really wanted it to succeed. It's very convenient for where we live and the menu reads well. We went a number of times last year, but stopped because it never seemed to feel like good value for money - you can eat better elsewhere in Camden for much the same price (e.g. the excellent Camden Brasserie).
But they have just started doing half price on food if you order it between 6-7pm, so we gave it another try. Unfortunately I had a piece of lamb shoulder which was cooked to oblivion and so totally dry and tasteless (when I commented that it was overcooked, I was told it was meant to be that way!). My guests had the salmon and the portions were so small, I had to feed them something else when we got home. So it still didn't feel worth it at half price.

What a nice pub. I get so bored with all the corporate rubbish you get in some places. Nice layout, interesting decor and the sausage and mash deserves seconds!
Handy function room too. I was really quite impressed.

My second visit and I would reccomend the Prince Albert if you want good food, good value and warm welcoming atmosphere.
Menu is chosen for "good eating" rather than being stuffed with the dishes that are "in" and on every other menu which makes a nice change if you eat out as often as I do.

When it first opened I was treated to a meal here - the food was 1st class but service was not to same standard but was easily forgiven by the management explaining they had recruited for personality and good attitude to service rather than experience and some staff were still under training. Although rather inept staff were very enthusiastic and keen to be of service.
Only sad point was certain lack of atmosphere as rather empty - surprising in view of quality of food. Naturally enough word of the quality has got around and it is now busy, and rightly so.

I had an absolutely first class lunch here. As I normally dine in the West End it was a treat to find somewhere near the stations with excellent food and attentive service! The wine list is also very impressive - a superb experience and HIGHLY recommended!

I have been hear a few times good food, but the bar staff are undertrained and useless and either the manager or owner seems to be a bumbling toff. overall great grub and my other comments wouldn't stop me returning in the future.

I have been going to the Prince Albert for a couple of months now and it has got to be the best gastropub I have ever been in. Not only is it one of the most relaxing, atmospheric and unpretentious venues but serves a vast array of beverages and consistently superb food. The restaurant upstairs offers a sophisticated menu with an extensive range of dishes, all reasonably priced. The bar downstairs also serves food; mercifully it has decided to break the norm of traditional bar food in favour of more up-market, yet popular dishes. (The sea bream is exquisite)

I definitely recommend the Prince Albert to anyone looking for an after-work or weekend retreat to unwind and relax. Its cosy, “local” feel keeps me coming back.

This place used to be a old man's boozer and a real place to avoid, unless watching horse racing and being surrounded by the smell of unmentionals is your thing. Now it's an awsome hiden gem! The food is fantastic and it's a real treat to find somewhere that's relaxed and off the beaten track, yet still serving up the best fayre. The drinks are top notch too - decent wines, international lagers and real ales to boot. Get there before the masses arrive!!

Thoroughly enjoyable place to spend the evening. The food was original, tasty and delicious. Totally unpretentious (excepting the strange metal links that adorn the place) and a great list of drinks, even English wine if you dare (we had some and it was very good)! Love the "buy local" ethos of the place too, quite an education of what can be sourced in and around London.
